I'm curious what method you're using to learn kanji. I tried the whole anki deal but it wasn't cutting it for me. Have not tried wanikani but it's not free so... I guess I'll simply stick with jlpt-go and similar websites because the best way to learn for me is just concentration. If only I could just stop being incredibly lazy and study hard. How's it is working on your end?

Never gave anki a shot since I'm not too fond of mechanical memorization. I prefer to learn them through exposure instead.
My method of memorizing my kanji is by opening up either the raw Yotsuba manga or an untranslated .exe of Clannad with a text extractor open during the entirety of the process, then I paste any muzukashi kanji or word I come across on jisho.org. That is in parallel with the other words I gradually pick up whilst learning my grammar and after having surmised their meanings based on the radicals used and the context.
It's a very slow process, like 20 or so words memorized a day on average, but it works better for me that way for the long-term.

Yes indeed, the trick to memorizing new words faster is to learn them in context. I guess that goes for almost every language but honestly it's a little less effective for japanese, at least for me. FUCK THE PSP PORT.
