No. There was a time where the laws made sense, because women actually couldn't fend for themselves after a divorce and unironically needed tons of financial help in order to take care of the kids. Also during that time it was more likely that the couple had lots of kids during the marriage, and thus the wife needed even more help.

Like I said, that time has since passed and we are stuck with our shitty laws that stem from a traditional view on gender roles. You can either view women as helpless individuals who need the protection of men, in which case they need lots of help following a divorce, or as individuals capable of taking care of themselves, in which case they deserve nothing special following a divorce.

Also no-fault laws in divorce are bullshit. Someone is always at fault.

They may have made sense back in the day as a counter-measure to divorce, but now they're serving to actively increase the levels of divorce.
