>uni starts in a week
>have literally not done any mathematics in 5 months
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I AM SO RUSTY WHY DIDNT I STUDY DURING SUMMER
Uni starts in a week
math is not required for uni so your argument carries no weight
> I was supposed to study during the summer
WHAT, NO ONE TOLD ME.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
i got accepted into a Mechanical Engineerings course at one of the best universities in Sweden
Math and Physics will be 90% of the first year
they will teach you calculus so it's okay, just do your hw
>starting uni in the middle of August
wtf Sweden?
it starts on 27th for us
Early summer, early workstart.
Most people start working this week
>mfw meme degree so I don't even have to give a shit
No shit they will but they expect me to remember how to do Integrals and Combinatorics and shit in my head and i can barely remember how to do it
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
>study bio and chem for a year and a half
>change course because i realize i won't get a job in it and my father works in business so i will get a job there
>start studying business instead
>its so fucking easy and common sense i skip almost every class and still pass with good marks
In Europe, they take their equivalents of ap calculs classes in their last years of high school and it's mandatory. So I think He is Going to study linear algebra and differential equations in his first year. Is that right op?
they start from 0
>tfw almost done with the uni math shit and working a job
better late then never lol
Yes, i ended on Combinatorics and Number Theory last year of highschool.
Now it's going to be Highschool but 10x as advanced with 100x the tempo
I wish i had the balls kill myself
>he fell for the STEM meme
haha you wont even last a year...
start brainstorming today or u will end up as a neet
it was only a few months ago, you'll be fine
What i'm scared of is if you fail a certain number of exams during a semester you're kicked out.
If i got into uni, and then kicked out i would unironically just blow my brains out
now that you know the price, you can go for it without regret
just make sure you eat your words
Post the curriculum op
You won't have the balls to do it. You'll just become a wageslave like the rest of us.
Second semester started yesterday here
If i fail i'll just sign up to become a Marine in the US army so i can go shoot some guns before dying in Iraq.
Man I finished high school in june and I've been studying maths since then. I'll help you though.
P a non-constant polynomial with complex coefficients. Prove that P' divides P if and only if P has only one complex root.
That's a rather simple exercise so you should be able to do this kind of exercises.
>starting uni in the first week of August
Lmao what the fuck is wrong with w*sterners
>Start job as a Java developer next month
>The only languages I've used in over a year have been Haskell and Python
Yeah, i think if i brush up on Integrals and Polynomials i should be fine.
You're overreacting. It's not that much h
arder than the high school maths.
T. Mechanical engineering student
So if i do and some combinatorics excerises am i good?
Which school?
KTH
Yes. They usually start from some of the end of high school material and build upon that.
In Linear Algebra we started with some simple vector/matrix stuff.
It's time to wake up user
I'm starting CS at Chalmers. Did refresh my calc during summer though. We're having introductionary math and programming courses for like 1 or 2 weeks before the real courses start, don't you have anything like that?
CS is not Engineering, they expect us to just hit the ground running.
hence my anxiety right now
>CS is not Engineering
It's not really CS but more a combination of CS and CE. As it is a civ.ing., we have loads of bullshit maths and physics and other stuff just because.
If you start today and count some calc 2-3 hours a day you should have a good start.
What kind of combinatorics and arithmetics do you do in high school?
Only introductory stuff, chance, permuations
first year, right?
Yes, hopefully that other Swede is right and they have some sort of introductory refresh
I'm not taking any math course this semester because why not. Next semester, I'm taking a differential equations+Linear algebra class tho.
well yeah, you don't need to study for the first year before hands. just go and have a swim or something, you'll refresh during the first courses
How is this Jow Forums related?
did you have to give national exams or did you just apply to the uni?
>Linux administration and security class
>both were described as being very hard.
>I have not started learning anything yet.
>teehee im so special i get stressed im gonna sudoku over this xDDDDDDDDD
Is that the same university that Pewdiepie dropped out of?
Pewds went to Chalmers, he studied the same program as I'm currently in
linear algebra doesn't require knowledge of calculus
Which one is better? Do you have league tables for specific courses/majors in Sweden?
Chalmers is higher ranked for this particular program I think. I don't keep track anymore
My experience of college maths is they basically start from the ground up. They just assume you have the basics of whatever you were taught in school like knowing what a matrix or an integral is. They even had extra classes for people who didn't have much background in applied maths.
This I scored bad in math and they built me up to calculus.
Funny enough I scored so high in my entrance exams that I didn't really have to take classes besides math.
rip
>five free months
I wish to be you.
Chalmers is higher ranked in engineering
Which program?
>uni starts in a few weeks
>have spent the last 8 months on a party 24/7, doing drugs, drinking, travelling a bit
>haven't done anything school related during that time
Shit's gone be hard
What's the job market like for graduate engineers in Sweden?
starting final year of mechanical engineering next month here. not studied pure maths since December and can't remember any of it. you never need any of that crap like triple integrals anyway
Did you study triple integrals in uni or a-levels
The graduation exam is sucking twenty cocks....it's really hard! But I passed :3
If it's anything like Denmark:
>jobs for everyone!
Same. I'm taking Calc I next semester and haven't touched Trig in 2 years
Thanks guys, i guess i was a bit too worried.
I'm just going to repeat the basics and roll with it when i get there.
Uni. They don't teach triple integration at school here
Every country needs engineers
Just engineering baby maths, you will be fine.
>taking calc 1 in university
Brainlet
>take one year of uni
>Don't organize myself around it
>Not even completely sure what I wanted to do
>Ace classes I care about, almost fail out of one's I don't
>Realize I lack discipline and direction
>Take year off to work and think about direction
>Thinking about joining the military to teach me discipline (and help pay for uni later) instead
Is this a good idea? I mean I'm not even sure how useful degrees are anymore . I've met so many people who have completed university who never ended up getting into the field they studied for even though they were extremely qualified in terms of grades / work experience.
I did mathematical engineering and when I got there I didn't even know what a polynomial was. Where I studied they did pre-courses to get you on track for calc1 and linear algebra
At least you're studying
>work experience
As interns of course
hearing things like this makes me a bit more calm
thanks for lowering my blood pressure
>Engineering maths
They don't teach you mathematics there, they essentially teach you algorithms to memorize and forget within a month, which means that you can just cheese your way through.
You aren't gonna learn anything this way though.
this is me, but im 4 years into uni now.
That's not what brainstorming means fyi
>what i would give to be 20 again and just do it right
regret is terrible
>tfw studying probably the easiest engineering degree in Denmark, but people with my education has one of the highest average salaries.
Calc 1 is easy just listen in class and do the homework desu
t. Passed Calc 1 in a French school
but it's winter for you
well that's more normal
At least you got in my man. I got fucked out of both colleges I applied to because of government red tape.
I know.....
they don't in the us?
This.
Here it starts late September - early October.
At late August (around the 28th) till mid-late September (like the 20th) there's an exam period.
It's optional. You can get accepted by some engineering schools without knowing any calculus
All you need is Linear Algebra and basic Calculus.
But you gotta learn those well. On a very intuitive level.
Read Axler and watch 3blue1brown for Linear Algebra.
at least you know math, I'm starting soon but my fundamentals are fucked, I'm talking brainlet tier.
with no one to blame but myself, so much time that could've been used to study I waste
loads of opportunity
I'm hoping to get a job in Hägglund & Bofors but you generally need around 10 years of experience for the bigger firms. Luckily there are a million startups
Im an EE student.
Most of the classes start of with some review of basic calculus or the professor will tell you to review in your free time. Doubt they will start throwing at you complicated integrals and then get tested on it on your first day. Besides, most of the math gets easier as you profress in engineering. Think omost of the math i use is basic algebra or some differential equation maths.
>The graduation exam is sucking twenty cocks
>I passed
>calculus
I can’t even do algebra lmoa
Thanks, gonna look up some material and practice the basics.
Hopefully i'll do fine.
>be american
>have no discipline
>join the army
>get shot
Isn't there info on that somewhere? Ask one of the students in the welcoming committee.
I advanced one or two subjects every summer so I could have easier semesters after. Kept the mind sharp all year and the load of work was always in check.
feelsbadman
>first year of uni starts in a month and half
>don't know anyone
>no idea what to expect
>already regrets about what I chose to study
>wish I could just remain as a NEET forever
You can't change your major?
