Well you see African Americans are usually able to speak standard American English (ie not AAVE) but they do so with certain quirks of pronounciation that are carried over from AAVE, which they typically speak at home. When I heard a black person speaking standard American without any hint of AAVE influence it seemed uncanny to me, as if he were a news anchor but without the weird stilted cadence.
