Is cumbia the most Latin American genre of music? Or is it now reggaeton?

I feel like every country has their own form of cumbia but not reggaeton

This music suck??

Serious???

youtube.com/watch?v=UXwLBS3yUkA

He has 3 neurons and thinks that all Latin American music is Daddy Yankee, Arjona, cumbia villera and narcocorrudos, etc., therefore, saying shit like "our music le sucks" is a smart thing to say.

>Brazillian music doesn't sound like Latin American music tho

There are genres that sound like latin american music, like Baiao

youtube.com/watch?v=zZfN3YaSRNQ

LOS doesn't produce cumbia

its salsa, not your backalley colombian donkeyfucking tunes
hes talking about mexican music, it sucks

>youtu.be/Ag9rrauCHLw
implying

Cumbia is dope tho

Probably, but it still sounds like crap no matter who makes it. I particularly hate Colombian cumbia since it's music from the Atlantic coast region.
youtube.com/watch?v=HPxIupmepr4

The only "latino" music I barely like is the old music my mother listens to:
youtube.com/watch?v=_BuxG8tkJ9w
youtube.com/watch?v=PXynEewwZfs
But the lyrics are not normally of my liking.
Or maybe some tunes from the Colombian-Venezuelan plain fields.
Or tango and music from that part of the Continent, it sometimes sounds really good (Based on what I've heard in a TV show dedicated to that kind of music that my mother uses to watch, they sometimes invite groups from Argentina)

what about Selena?

Salsa is fucking shit too. I loathe Caribbean music so much!

Aside from her. Apparently in real life, she couldn't speak Spanish, which is weird because all her music is in Spanish

Memorization? She probably knew how to say "hola, como estas" and all that

by singin using phonetics only, I've heard plenty of anglos singing in a great spanish without being able to say word in spanish, it's pretty common actually

A lot seen "latino music"

But i think that you think in salsa when you think in latino music

This guy is AMERICAN

Reggaeton is the most popular music among young people, usually heard by criminals and prostitutes. The letters are based on drugs, sex etc.

I'd say it's bolero.

*lyrics

Bolero only had a strong presence in Cuba, Mexico and tiny bit in Colombia. It's also not popular anymore.

Well, faggot, my English isn't very good. I'm doing the best I can.

This is good Chilean music.

Peruvian cumbia/chicha is the best, sort of a mix between surf rock and Andean music.

Norteño was good until narcos ruined it.

Original cumbia started in Colombia, classical Colombian cumbia is called bullerenque.
Peru is the first country to adopt cumbia during the 60's, there the middle classes combined the cumbia listened by the poor people and mixed it with the psychedelic rock listened by the boomer hippies of the high class, Peruvian cumbia can also known as chicha was born there.
Then cumbia reached the Caribbean, where it combined with afrocaribbean music and created merecumbe which got popular in DR and PR
Cumbia got popular in Mexico too, where it combined with Banda musicians and rock music, creating cumbia sonidera, although there are lots of normal historicist cumbia in Mexico

Argentina is by far the country most influenced by cumbia, there cumbia got really popular in the poor villages, the genre became known as cumbia villera, which is really profuse in the use of lunfardo argot, a subgenre of cumbia villera called cumbia cheta deals specifically about robberies and criminal life, similar to narcocorridos.

Cumbia villera is the most listened to across South America.

Porro is a form of cumbia really popular in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador, it's really similar to original cumbia.

Lastly, through the internationalization of cumbia a lot of people started experimenting with the genre, there's a lot of Americans and Europeans doing cumbia now, such as chica libre or tropidelico. Also there's technocumbia, cumbia rock (really similar to chicha) and a shitton of more stuff

The least cumbia country in latam is Chile.

peak singer-songwriter latino

Peak commie faggot u mean

That album is comfy and tho

he is shite

How do you know so much about cumbia?

no, yours is. Peruvian psychedelic cumbia and afro-cuban, bossa nova and latin jazz genres are based. Cumbia villera, dembow and reggaetton and favela funk are fun. Argentinian ballads and pop are good. Old colombian cumbia is nice and new colombian projects like Ondatrópica, Meridian Brothers and Frente Cumbiero are putting out some of the best music right now

we made a latin pop formula that works worldwide
>I hate fun and only listen to muh real music
>cumbia and reggaetton are trash
hello beta boomer

Listening to latin american music is for the low class

yup.

/mu/

What's the worst Latino genre?

latin trap and bachata
but /mu/ is 99% white yank teens who only listen to fantanocore

I can smell the stench of your dirty neckbeard from here

But aren't those two the most popular Latino genres right now?

Also you forgot to add narcocorridos, horrible subhuman music.

>slow indie record playing on the background

>our

In my opinion popular latin music is currently at its worst. Our trap scene is terrible. We don't have a travis scott or a kodack black or a Tay K, nothing remotely different or interesting. Shit lyrics, mediocre flow, boring tracks. Just the most basic generic shit. I've never met someone under 40 who seriously listens to bachata, I think it's more popular among older brown women. The only contemporary pop artist I listen to right now is El Alfa, but he makes dembow not trap.
I always forget those genres cause most mexican music is so terrible it doesn't even cross my mind when thinking about music.

Raul!! Que e lo que tu ase mielmano? Donde tu ehta?
