Even I don't understand what meant, but the answer is that only adding i- at the beginning, while signifying the third person singular, makes no indication of the gender. This is why you need to add lui (his) or ei (her) if you want to get the gender across.

Are not inverted because the sentence starts with 'je' unlike your sentence which started with "zo lang als ik leef".

You basically apply the same rules as one would when asking a question. Swapping the verb and the subject.

Lets talk about 'main clauses' and 'sub clauses'
You may not invert if two clauses which are combined (through en, want, maar) are 'main clauses'. These are sentences which are not dependent on eachother.
An example:
Het regende de hele middag en we hebben dus niets kunnen doen.
Het regende de hele middag. -> main clause
We hebben dus niets kunnen doen. -> main clause
As you can see the order is normal in both sentences.
If the first clause of a combined sentence is a 'sub clause' the subject and verb in the following clause are inverted.
For example:
Als iedereen er is, beginnen we om drie uur
Als iedereen er is -> sub clause. You can recognise these because the subject and the verb are separated. (by er) (but it could have been further apart: Als iedereen op de club is
We beginnen om drie uur -> main clause

I hope this makes sense.
