Suck my fat lumpy dick
In typical biz fasion, such a post gets completely ignored.
The vast majority of biz would find it very hard to explain what casper is
what is caper?
Basically proof of stake
is this good or bad
im a total boomer rajeet
This is the biggest news in the crypto space since Satoshi Nakamoto released the the original bitcoin white paper in January 2009. I hope Jow Forums realizes the ramifications of this and acts accordingly.
Caper is the plant from which anti aging serum is produced
explain for a pleb. is this the same as what EOS is doing?
Casper is a hard fork of Ethereum that solves many of the underlying issues holding the cryptocurrency back from mass adoption. At its core, Casper aims to enhance Ethereum’s security and reduce the risk of centralization, while eliminating the financially and environmentally unsustainable practice of mining. Casper aims to bring “security, reduced risk of centralization, and energy efficiency” to the Ethereum network. To wrap your head around how exactly it will do this, you must appreciate the issues it is solving. Ethereum operates on the same consensus mechanism as Bitcoin, PoW.
No one disputes that PoW’s mining process is a gross waste of electricity, not to mention it incurs the risk of a PoW blockchain facing a 51% attack, by which a group of miners join forces to wreak havoc, double-spending and reversing transactions whenever they please.
The developers of Ethereum know all of this too well, which is why they have always planned to make the transition to Proof-of-Stake, which achieves consensus by allowing token holders to “stake” their coins in specialized wallets. In return, stakers will be rewarded by the system, similar to the way you accumulate interest on a savings account at the bank. This process allows the network to achieve consensus without using the mammoth quantities of electricity consumed during mining. It also eliminates the likelihood of a 51% attack, simply by making them far too expensive to attempt. ll of this will speed up Ethereum’s network by enabling faster block creation as well as allowing sharding – the partitioning of a database into smaller, more controllable parts. On the user end, this lower latency will make the network faster and cheaper to use (in theory). Lastly, PoS may reduce the risk of centralization seen with PoW, where wealthy miners can afford to invest in more effective mining gear.
What the fuck? It's written in Vyper???
Look at all the limitations that it imposes!
github.com
No recursion, no inheritance, no inline assembly!?
The fucK??? Writing useful contracts in this is going to be more tedious than before!
Time to short!!!!!
yes it's true
ETH SURGING
UP 2% /H
How much coke will my .11 eth get me in a year?
Just wait till this weekend. Ethereal Summit is going to have a formal unveiling and demo with some EEA partners. All major press/media will be there covering the story.
nasdaq.com
Depends.
Cherry or diet?
>trusting a proof of stake system where the developer owns at minimum 10% of the supply. I swear ethereum users have brain damage.
>environmentally unsustainable practice
Reeeeeee
checked.
also not a surprise cuz biz is full of retard fags
thanks sminemz sold 100k!!!
I wonder how much is needed 4 a masternode/staking?
Down -2.5%
HAHHAHAH
32 ETH. Just 32 eth and you are set for life.
You mean no recursive functions?! Is this currently possible in solidity?
What is inheritance, global variables?
and inline assembly?
> inheritance
Get out of here you scrub. Stop using classes and use composition
what fucking chart are you looking at?, its up 3% in sats and half that in usd
WHY IS IT DUMPING
WHAT THE FUCKKKK AHHHHH
FucK, I don't have this much
Gotta do some Twitter scams
>implying there won't be pools to stake for smallfries
It's like saying mining is useless because you cannot solo mine anymore.
Thanks
>EOS
>pleb
why is there an accurate post on biz
Because BTC double topped and bots are selling-off in response. Really is that simple. BTC will easily fall to $8000 again, and probably bring ETH down with it to the $500s. Just HODL... or sell and re-buy.
Ull be writing smartcontracts in Go on ChainLink
Only 32?
What's the passive income expectation for someone with, say, twice that amount (64)?
Also, if this is such good news, should we expect a pump in the near term? Or will BTC's bed-shitting continue weighing ETH down?
So is this real or just a LARP? Doesn’t this have the potential to make ETH reach 5k this year if true?
Casper is basically the desperate attempt of ETH to catch up with the next gen tech of ADA and EOS, but will end up pissing of miners and the community thus producing a Ethereum Classic Reloaded situation.
Pretty much.
>tfw don't have nearly enough ETH
>tfw already sinked way too much capital into crypto so I can't put any more in it
On one hand, at least I have SOME eth, but on the other, I really would like if I had more. Oh well I guess that's life
cuz all of biz is EOS Marines on suicide watch
It depends on quite a few factors, but most expert cryptoeconomists suggest staking 64ETH will provide around $102,400 annually by 2020. This will grow and outpace inflation as the Ethereum network grows.
If the crypto market was sane, then this would be the moment that ETH completely decouples from bitcoin
No fucking way, seems like sarcasm. If substantiated, this would pump the shit out of ETH's price practically overnight. Please provide source.
What ETH prices are they calculating that off of?
I thought Vitalik said he'd only want staking to yield a couple % a year.
3-5% return a year is more like it. For doing practically nothing that seems reasonable lol
I feel your pain I only have 2 ETH and am very hesitant at throwing more money into crypto.
Me too, should I buy more ETH today or wait?
What's better is that it's 3-5% return of ETH so in USD it could be like 10-30%
Article states not ready until next year and no sharing until the 2020s lmao
Staking will give sufficient interest to cover costs of securing the network + opportunity cost of having the eth locked away. Most ETH developers are being very conservative in these projections (rightfully so).
If only 10% of all ETH in circulation is used for staking the rewards would be around 12%. As traditional investors begin to understand this the price of ETH will rise exponentially. Its a perfect storm of economic game theory.
It‘s happening
because the value of crypto has nothing to do with the actual technology you fuck
Let me see if I've got this right, when Casper's done:
>ETH is a store of value, like gold
>ETH is a medium of exchange, like dollars
>ETH is a claim on computing power, like AWS credits or something
>ETH is used for gambling, like casino chips
>ETH is exposure to microcaps via ICOs, like venture capital
>ETH is a coupon payment, like bonds
If by cherry you mean pure, then cherry.
All in Zilliqa for sharding and ETH.
No matter what happens in the cryptoworld I win either way.
Also loan system with makerdao
more time to accumulate
vitalik talks about 0-5 % closer to 5. so now you get %, and the asset is going to appreciate alot as people see this money machine and as smart contracts are adopted. this has been obvious for a long time!
$102,400/0.05 = $2,048,000/64 = $32,000 per ETH in 2020? Sorry, not buying it. Don't get me wrong, I hold ETH and would love this, but let's try to be realistic here.
To be frankly honest with you, after watching the cryptospace for the last few years, I don't really know what realistic is anymore when it comes to crypto. I don't think anyone does.
>32,000 by 2020
nice fud
the number of 102,400 was not mine. im just trying to say that 5% on an asset that also most likely appreciates in dollar will be the dopest dope for normie boomers.
That's a fair response. ETH could triple in price by July or wind up being worth a third of what it is now. We really don't know.
Fingers crossed. HODLing for now (although that's a lot easier on the green days, haha).
10% of all ETH in circulation is used for staking the rewards would be around 12% in ETH. ETH/USD rose 5700% in 2017, so the USD amount is difficult to predict, but the sky is the limit as we've seen.
The million dollar question my man I’m highly debating buying another ETH myself but will feel like a dumbass if it dips back to the 3-500 range in a few weeks. My average buy price is 950 right now which is fucking awful
Should I buy eth?
Hey it's that faggot that got destroyed by me in the bitcoin cash thread last night
I'm jelly, I don't even have a full ETH. I have 2 XMR tho which is my second biggest hodl, feeling good about that as well.
How so gay boy?
Hope you all enjoyed the recent gains-nap and accumulated.
Devs have 1 million ETH since the ico
There is about 100 million eth in circuluation
>>%
My buy price was 774 i haven’t lost much but I’m going to put this into alts i think
>WHAT IS PLASMA
>WHAT IS OMG
BIZTARDS, DO YOUR OWN DUE DILLIGENCE FOR ONCE IN YOUR AUTISTIC LIFE AND UNDERSTAND WHY OMG IS A NEARLY GUARANTEED MOONROCKET.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN BLOCKCHAIN TECH? THE MAJORITY OF COINS IN THE CMC TOP 100 ARE ERC20.
ETHEREUM NEEDS A SCALING SOLUTION (THEY NEED PLASMA). OMG IS BASICALLY DEVELOPING PLASMA.
IF YOU BELIEVE IN CRYPTO -> YOU SHOULD BELIEVE IN ETH -> YOU SHOULD BELIEVE IN OMG -> IF OMG PULLS OFF THEIR GAUDY ASS WHITEPAPER THEY WILL BE A 100B MARKETCAP COIN.
DO YOUR OWN FUCKING RESEARCH. IM DONE SPOONFEEDING YOU RETARDS. I REALLY REALLY HOPE I GOT TO AT LEAST ONE BASEMENT DWELLING AUTIST WITH THIS MESSAGE, IF NOT ITS COOL, ME AND MY 3500 OMG RETIRING REALLLL SOON.
All caps shilling always makes me buy. Thanks user!
i was too aggro i know but seriously do yourself a favor and take the time to understand how omg ties into eth's vision. im done shilling, cap this and come back in a year.
this guy codes
There's a reason why OMG isn't hyped around here. It's because you should always do the opposite of Jow Forums. There are few very high potential coins, and OMG is one of them.
What the FUCK are the British police
Yea I’d feel a lot better with a buy price in the 700’s but fuck it I learned my lesson about FOMO from it. Any ol crypto fags or people with real knowledge care to weigh in if this is a legit milestone for the future of ETH? I really want to buy more but would rather wait for it to be in the 500’s.
It could be big. There's a lot of potential for opening up earnings for the average joe with ETH going to PoS.
The problem has always been for normies
> How do stake
If they can do this relatively easier than most coins they could be yuuuug
Also cloning git repo, i'll build it and see how awful it is
On one hand, this is *only* the one update we've been waiting for for over a year,
But on the other hand I heard EOS just sent some $166 million in ETH to bitfinex, which could give a nice price crash
BASED LARIMER DUMP YOUR ETH MY FIAT IS READYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
The key question is if it's high price will make it expensive to use again.
If it's too expensive to use because of speculation, it's destined for failure.
The hope is that sharding will make it cheap enough that ETH could be thousands and thousands of dollars, but using the network itself is still cheap
Lmao
With the right trades you could easily end up with 10 ETH by the end of the year, such as buying VEN before their mainnet launch in June and selling after the launch, this should at least double you 2 ETH.
You got me. Will I make it with 10?
>"hard fork"
>casper commit is a smart contract
brainlets man, when will they learn to stop larping as actually knowledgable cs people... sad!
The fuck? You can’t just take away fundamental building blocks of programming without replacing it with something else. Might as well just make a human readable version of assembly.
1. Casper is like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. It doesn’t solve the scaling issues inherent to blockchains.
2. Holochain, the next evolution in block chain technology, has already solved the scale problem. As such, it will cuck the living shit out of Ethereum.
a non-contentious hardfork but still a hardfork nonetheless
>Casper is a hard fork of Ethereum
Stopped reading there
>Being this deluded
fucking brainlet get off my board
What would acting accordingly be?
Something that will take us to $2000 to $8000 per ETH by eoy
This guy gets it
With staking there is a stronger incentive to hold and generate instead of sell
Only soi cucks worry about things like energy consumption. If it is worth it, it's worth it. That's why the real movers and shakers in the world drive fat oil guzzling cars and fly jets all over the place.
PoS (coincidentally the acronym for Piece of Shit) is a terrible idea where the biggest wallet can (must!) slowly but surely co-opt the entire network (not gonna explain, dyor). Don't get why everyone is so excited for that.
How is your little mining operation going Lola? Are you scared you won't be able to sell those 1080s with worn out fans? Every miner who didn't have his head up the ass already accumulated 32 eth min for a staking node
Completely forgot about Janessa Brazil
