What do people in your country eat for a snack while drinking? I hear that Russians like gherkins and Spanish like tapas, but what I personally like the most are what the Italians have to offer.

coffee and cigarettes

I don't eat snacks because alcohol tastes like sjit and if I eat something good in between drinks, I can't go back to drinking anymore.

Idk literally anything who the fuck cares

Maybe chicken wings or a big sub roll or pizza

hotdogs dipped in mayo

it's necessary to eat something with a strong flavor

I really like spanish olives with garlic/pepper inside, peppered kippered herring, gherkins and bleu cheese

Sekuwa(meat roasted in fire of wood) and a kind of peanut salad(sadeko badam)

Bean broth;
Salami;
Seasoned potatoes;
Diced cheese and ham;
Peanuts;
Just google "tira-gosto" for several other options.

me in the pic drinking gambina

In the Netherlands it's usually:
1. Bitterballen (meat ragout in a crispy jacket)
2. peanuts / sliced cheese blocks with mustard / sliced sausages with mustard
3. small toast with French cheese, or other things, if you have guests

Bitterballen are also often eaten with mustard.

the most stereotypical traditional portuguese combo: beer and lupin beans (hope that's the right name)

As a child I would beg my father to order beer because I knee it'd always come with a free side of those beans and I loved those beans. anyway that's probably my fault how he got a beer gut.
Nowadays although I can't drink much I also order a beer for me and crack a cold one open with him, and my love for lupin beans is still strong.

other snacks include nuts/peanuts (natural or roasted, also may be tempered with salt or spice)
occasionally a tiny plate of some animal's heart, liver, meat, maybe bits of baked potatoes, you eat those with a toothpick
and in some places you get popcorn or fries although that's pretty unusual

Why do you insist on posting creepy faces and saying you eat italians?

Slovenians don't eat while getting drunk. Used to be we had a beer pretzel culture, but that died down with the increase in Serbian influence midcentury.

for me it's dried fish

pretzels (small crispy ones or large), salt sticks; salty "laugengebäck" in general

are you from some fancy part in Russia or is dried fish actually common in Russia? I expected it to be a thing in Norway and Iceland but not in Rusia 2bh

From St Pete and it's quite common here. This particular fish is from kamchatka though. My friends brought me it from there and it's delisious af

Didn't expect that.
Cheers lad

Depends on the drinks.

nani?

Aussies seem not to be as much into drinking snacks as you would think considering the British and Irish influence but what we do go for is the counter meal

fecking savoury pies, m8

why must the anglos have a monopoly on them?

this plus salted mushrooms, kholodets with mustard/horseradish, frozen pork fat(salo), russian salad and occasionally caviar

Has the deep fried bread penetrated Russia?
Actually, what's your beer culture like these days? I've seen quite a lot of russian beers being sold in our shops, and some of them are pretty good.

like in your pic related? It's commonly served here in bars since forever. And it's usually the cheapest snack there. As for me beer culture here get much better in recent years. Don't know what to say here other then if you ever considere to travel here with bars in mind pick st petersburg over moscow. I love moscow but Petersburg is honesltly better in that part.

Peanuts

The British are a disgusting race of degenerates but I like how their salt&vinegar crisps taste while getting hammered

Really? I've been to St. Petersburg in like 2009, and I don't remember seeing it. Well it's been a long time. I forgot we've also got bread "chips". I'd kind of like to come back and see how everything's changed, but I don't feel it's a... uh... great time to visit.

Yes, also deep fried pork rinds, although they're a bit rarer.

If you think alcohol tastes so bad, why are you drinking alcohol in the first place?

That deep-fried bread, either white or black, is called "grenki" since ever
