Exchange student in Munich. It's pretty nice but I feel it's a bit conservative and expensive too. I find the other German cities to be more 'fun'. But I'm not complaining considering it's so clean and safe. I feel like if you're rich and old this is a pretty nice place to be in. The beer's pretty good and so are the lakes and the mountains. Good weekend destinations nearby too. Pretty hot these days.

what school are you from back home? do you feel the quality of education is really different or no

Computer Science. Over here they call it Informatics.

I'm from one of the IITs. I feel like the quality of education is pretty much similar. There are good professors and bad professors everywhere. However the quality of infrastructure here is much better.
The variety of courses offered here is much more than back in India too, and it's possible to register for courses for the other university in Munich too which is really nice.
Also I think that the amount and quality of research here is also much better than in India, but I haven't experienced this firsthand.

I don't really know much about american unis but obviously they're better than Indian schools partly because of the funding alone. They're considered the best in the world for a reason. Education alone doesn't make a university good, and I think that's where the American (and German to some extent) unis really shine.

Just wanted to add on something. The difference in the quality of education between top tier Indian schools and non-top tier schools in India is pretty huge. So most of the schools in India have terrible education standards.

How do you think the issues in indian unis could be fixed? I heard that a bunch of indian unis were closed down a few years back, was that a step in the right direction?

Also what's the deal with infastructure being so shit in indian unis, even well funded ones? My parents (also Indian) told me about this too, it seems like such a simple issue to fix
