In nature, most sugar also comes with high fiber. High fiber helpds regulate blood sugar levels.

That's why added sugar, HFCS, etc are terrible for you. It's a ton of sugar without fiber, so your blood glucose skyrockets. It's also why most fruit juices are terrible.

I never said it was. I even said all added sugars are bad. But there is something strange about HFCS where obesity has risen just as regular added sugar was starting to be replaced by it.

There's also a lot of other factors. Less people smoking, less people in physically intense jobs, easier access to ready-made food, et cetera. It's easy to blame the problem on one thing.
