I don't know but I like it a lot.

Brutalism is good. Very good.
First off, it's inexpensive, but that's not the only reason people choose to build in it. Even people with high budgets that could've afforded building something "better" stuck with it.
Why? It's not dishonest architecture. The rawness of it all has an unique appeal that is hard to pin down - it just looks so incredibly sturdy and reliable BECAUSE of its simplicity. There aren't any ornaments adorning the facade and the whole thing is generally-speaking, minimalist as fuck, although it doesn't have to be. There's something about it that stirs up my heart, a gush of nostalgia coursing throghout me every time I see a brutalist building.

Have you seen a brutalist building at nighttime? That's the tightest shit ever, and not because you don't see the building as well as you do during the daytime. Many warm lights peering through the otherwise dim and reflective windows, revealing the soft and gentle inside. I'm not even mentioning what happens when you go inside - you're enveloped in the cosiest atmosphere known to mankind. If it's a public building it can be spacious as fuck, and it won't feel imposing at all.

In a way, when done cheaply, it reminds me of the way IKEA do things - they strive for utmost efficiency while still being presentable as fuck; they always try to trim corners when they can, but with the sole exception being that brutalist buildings don't fall apart you sneeze at them.

Ingsoc Headquarters

With traditional architecture, form follows function.

Modernist shit is unappealing and non-functional because it has a poor relationship with its surroundings.

Brutalist isn’t bad, and retards who only appreciate one school of architecture should kill themselves. What shouldn’t happen, however, is mixing. Brutalist buildings should not be in old European city centers, and likewise, neoclassical buildings should not be built in Downtown Chicago.

the barbican (the complex in the pic) does a pretty good job of blending in and seems a really nice place to live (it has rainforesty gardens inside of it)

There are some neat examples but brutalism has been largely rejected by architects and citizens

Don't know why soybrains are such big fans of it

There was an architecture thread on /a/ that reached 660 not that long ago.
Wonder why the mods haven't set the bump limit here at 500 posts like it is there, there's plenty of possible discussion to be had on Jow Forums.

You know you can enter image URLs in Google Images and it'll do a reverse search and try to figure out the content from all the websites where the same picture is hosted, right?
