It wasnt as wide spread as everyone think it was.
actually It was the Americans who tried to spread it but it was too late at the end
since our most relevent neighbors who are not commie tier at that time speaks English,Singapore, Hongkong, Malaysia,
not to mention the other Pasific Islands.

During the shithole Spanish/Mexican time we were directly controlled by corrupt Spic priest and Latin American generals that were afraid that if they taught us Spanish we would Join the other Spanish colonies revolution.

Pretty much what this guy said but I think the reason it never really took off is because of the imposition of Tagalog as the "Filipino language", and the fact that unlike the Americas which is mostly a bunch of stone age tier cavemen and small civilizations that were depleted by disease, that and the large intermixing compared to that of the Philippines probably contributed to the spread of Spanish.
The Philippines islands already had a large population immune to Eurasian diseases and a well established connection outside the archipelago that prevented the Spanish language from seeping through.

And Tagalog was the most wide spread local language of that time, they just made it official and a basis
