There would still be a language barrier and it doesn't really share the same culture with the ex-soviet states as it does with nordic countries. I think most finns consider themselves to have a better connection to swedes than latvians.

It's so comfy being Nordic. Pic related is the Island of Märket where Finland accidentally built a light house on the Swedish side and instead of re-building it Sweden just gave us that particular piece of land in exchange for an equally sized one right next to it.

Also some Norwegians tried to give us a mountain until they realized it violated their constitution.

Only the oldest Estonians understand Finnish because they had to watch FInnish TV back in the day. Now nobody speaks finnish there and finns of course have never bothered to learn estonian.

Not really. They are much more slavic than us. 80% of Finns (western and southern finns) are genetically close to scandis than estonians.
