Golem and Ixec are similar, however right now they focus on different use cases. Golem on 3d rendering and Ixec on dapps and Ixec already has blender dapp, and one can argue that dapp market is more lucrative opportunity in general than just 3d rendering.
Ixec already has many partners, some of better known are REQ, Signals, Flixxo, Shopin. Also IBM and intel has been eyeing them for some time now.

ixec is not doing any computations on the ethereum blockchain, it was just launched on ETH becasue it was the best thing at that time. iexec will be running on NEO, EOS, ICX and anything it chooses to. It's blockchain agnostic.
