I go to work in construction in the morning and they are always making the rounds of the same cans and sometimes not even the same person. Different man or woman. Sometimes I see one and then not for a while. I actually looks competitive. The homeless can't even compete with them.

i honestly can't say for sure. there was this one old man in our neighbourhood when i was a kid, and i saw him picking cans and bottles to put in his cart every day walking to school. if i had to guess, it's a good exercise that makes some money as an incentive?? i can't speak for all of those families but both my parents worked while my grandparents looked after the house, so it wasn't like we weren't well-supported financially

immigrant chinese who grew up in western countries don't hate japan though. we have no real memory of the second world war and no major connections to current conflicts like the island/ocean disputes, so our main experiences of japan are from the media you produce. to our empirical knowledge japan is a fun island where cool games and anime come from. i would talk more about how different asian diaspora often tend to associate themselves more closely with each other due to societal perceptions in terms of media and food, but that's a very long and subjective story
