Went to Ark NYC Delegate Meetup today at the eBay offices.

Biz classic reps seemed a little immature. It's like if you took some 19 year old b-tards from 2005 and told them to run a validator for a network worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

I did have a good time. I think you guys did a great job for your level of experience. Still kept things running even after the unexpected trouble setting up the projector, talks we're well-timed to get done even after unexpected difficulty.

Seeming a little bit like 2005 teenager is fine for an informal Meetup, I think.

Things I would change:
1. Have a set amount of time for presos + questions and cut people off even if they are going over or the current presenter doesn't get to everyone's questions. They can wait till after all the other speakers if there's time.

2. Have someone dedicated to supporting the slide changes, keeping speakers on time, taking audience questions and passing out the mic. Today, people couldn't hear all the questions and nobody was passing around a mic. Also, dude who was advancing the slides for the last talk wasn't paying attention, which was shitty for the last speaker.

Thanks for the criticism. The slide issue was due to eBays stage HDMI cable completely shitting the bed minutes before we were supposed to go on. The slides were supposed to be controlled by the presenter but we had to make due with what we had because of the technical issue we had no control over.

We definitely could have used a second mic. We'll make note for next time.

We will try to be a bit more formal next time, but part of our charm for most people is we don't get too serious. Make no mistake though, when it comes to the technical side we take our jobs very seriously.

The things that make it go smoothly, like mics to make sure everyone hears all questions and no preso seems rushed due to running out of time (since everyone observes time limits till the end) are the things I felt were actually important to my being able to learn the most from the event.

The idea of a physical faucet sounded cool, btw. Had to run right after so didn't get to see it, but like that it was there.

Sure, there's some small things that could of been changes, like a second mic, better position for the camera during the stream, and whatever else.
But it was really good. Considering you guys weren't getting paid or anything to host this, it was great.
I honestly appreciate all the hard work you two put into being a delegate.

I'll bring my gimbal and if it turns out that it's allowed, we'll stream the event. Not sure what kind of disclosure policies apply to attendees, but any major news we'll definitely keep people in the loop as long as it's allowed.

We expected eBay to have a working setup lol, we didn't expect it to break mid-setup. Next time we'll be more prepared. We just figured a place as big as eBay would have backups.

Its prohibited without permission going by their site. Last year it definitely wasn't heavily enforced though as I caught multiple streams going on but I can understand you not wanting to risk it.
