Nah. The only interesting thing that I might have is corsairs, because it was a popular occupation during the knights' rule.
Literally nothing. Our family got pushed around a bit in some 19th century revolutions and shit (deliberately not being specific), got exiled to here and managed to buy up some land. But in 1917 or 18 commies took it all and afterwards Latvian government wouldn't return it beyond a single plot that was enough to sustain a family. So we've been upper middle class ever since, with some branches going down to the gutter others going into big business or moving to America. I'm only loosely associated with my senpaitachi since my dad is a bit of a deadbeat womanizer.
No, only guys who shot nobility xD
For context I guess I should clarify that commies took nearly all of Latvia in 1917/18 but we beat them back together with some white army elements and remaining german forces fighting with the whites - but then we had to beat the whites too.
So we had 2 commie invasions - first in 1917, then 20 years of independence, and then we got occupied in 1940.
At least be honest, and let /int know that the professional core of the early red army was composted entirelly of 10,000 Latvians. Those were the people who stormed the Winter Palace and ended the Russian provisional government, allowing commies to take power.
My grand grand grand grand father was the king of Egypt.
Yes, I am not denying that in any way. None of my family members were part of those units, though. And most of them went over to the newly formed Latvian army in 1918/1919 when the Red Army had the bright idea to deploy their Latvian riflemen against the nationalist state of Latvia.
You gotta remember, in 1917 the empire was collapsing but we were still part of it. A lot of the Latvian troops got caught in the headlong retreat from the Germans and ended up in central Russia, where the commies were looking for any and all allies. They promised an independent Latvian state and even set up a Latvian-headed commie government for them to import. Of course, when they found they were fighting a Latvian government set up by actual Latvians in Latvia many defected - thought a fair bit stayed.
The first commander of the Red Army was a Latvian, and not even member of the communist party. Many leading figures in the military and political leadership were drawn from the Latvian troops, at least some of whom were most definitely communists.
But if you think this in some way legitimizes the occupation in 1939 you are retarded, because by then Stalin had killed most of the remaining red riflemen and their families.
>They promised an independent Latvian state and even set up a Latvian-headed commie government for them to import.
And this was at the time when Germans were seeking to establish a German-ruled colony just like in the Livonian days, while the White Russians were advocating for aggressive russification policies. We had to fight that lot off too.
1939 is a different topic from 1917 though, it was about a confrontation of two great powers, the baltic states just got sandwitched in between and got fucked because of that
Stalin wanted to expand westward. We were just the first step. He got much of what he wanted after the war.
The reason the red riflemen existed has nothing to do with some deep undercurrent of communist support. Latvian rifle units were established in response to popular demand and great numbers of volunteers to plug the front line on our own home turf in 1916. Sure, many of the soldiers got exposed to bolshevik agitation - as did many soldiers in general - but mostly it was just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. The Latvian units were caught up in the retreat eastwards, ended up as a relatively homogenous block of soldiers with their own trusted officers and division commanders, in a time of massive political upheaval and widespread collapse of discipline. They were essentially an equivalent of the Chezchoslovak troops stuck deep inside foreign territory, just in a different place and circumstances - being courted by the reds instead of the whites.
I mean, imagine your country is collapsing, the army is disintegrating along political lines and you look around to see tens of thousands of organized men under arms with no local political ties. Scenarios like these with foreign troops featuring prominently in civil wars and revolutions are common in history.
I remember I was reading my great grandpas family records from iceland. If memory serves well, my senpai has a descended that’s some norwegian king from the 1100s. Cant remeber the name exactly.
King Magnus III or something like that. All I remember is that he had third (III) in his name. Aswell as his name began with an M or an O

According to some book that talks about my family, I'm a descendant of Reccared I. But I doubt it.
What is the green somethings?

Kind of. My paternal grandmother comes from a noble family. Her uncle was was one of the signataries of the act of Independence in 1918. I obviously don't share the surname. Grandpa built churches and schools during interwar era, had a two story townhouse and a house out in the country. Similar things happened to it as the latvian guy said. Parents got a small plot of land in the late 90s, but it's been since sold, since we don't live anywhere near there anymore. The townhouse got converted into "communal" housing during commie times, then demolished in late 80s, now there's some ugly ass shops built there. As a bonus grandpa was put into a forced labour camp by nazis, and when he got back he found out his son had died. Fun times, I imagine.
What is this supposed to represent?
salah al din al ayyubi is one of my ancestors

99% of native europeans have nobility blood. You have 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents, 16 great great grandparents, if you keep going back generations to medieval times, take the current population and calculate their number of ancestors, the result would be billions, but there werent billions back then. You have tens of thousands of ancestors, you probably have nobility, thiefs, priests, farmers, retards, geniouses, all kinds of people as ancestors.
