What is it like to be from a relatively poor country without much historical or contemporary achievement/relevance? Say, Bosnia or Tajikistan.

>Bosnia
You have a tad of history, and you can cling to Catholic/Orthodox/Muslim identity.
>Tajikistan
Their language is basically Farsi, so they can easily (and almost truthfully) wewuz Persians.

>taking pride in shit you haven't done yourself

leech

Are you not proud of your parents, siblings, or other family members?

No. I can feel happiness for them but I will not larp on their achievements for something I didn't do.

National bride is real. It shapes the way you take on life from early on.

There are no your own achievements. You are what you are because of genes and raising/education, and they are given by your parents or teachers. Without genes you'd be... literally nothing, and without raising you'd be a die or be a feral kid.

It's alright

why should i care if my country has accomplished something, the achievements of my country or lack there of barely affect me.

I never said anything about stealing their achievements. You can feel proud, lucky, and indebted to the successes of your forefathers and countrymen. It's not stealing. It's veneration.

> you'd either die or become a feral kid.
Runglish fix.

If your country had better achievements, you'd live like in Switzerland, and if worse... like in Mali, I guess?

Because you are their descendant, their achievements were for the children of future generations as a nation

Hello my Mauretanian friend.

there are famous/rich/awesome people who live in mali, and there are homeless/nobody/lame people who live in switzerland.

Speaking as someone with a high IQ it’s natural for people with low IQs to try and take some of our glory for themselves. It’s like a fan of a team talking about how “we” won.

>Without genes you'd be... literally nothing
Okay? The first step to being a human is existing yes.

>you'd be a die or be a feral kid.
This doesn't make you special. This has been the case for most kids for several thousand years

not really. I came from Bosnia but grew up in America so I didn't really have any pride to look up to. I worked hard and am a pre-law student. I had teachers and parents to teach me discipline and education, but that is expected of them given the resources and conditions. My father came here with nothing but worked his way to having a trucking business and having other Americans work for him. I don't take pride in that. That was his work and his parents or siblings should not take pride in that either. I can see him to do this, and still be a deadbeat idiot like my brother.

This encourages laziness. If you take pride in the good things your "countrymen" achieve then you would be a hypocrite not to be ashamed of the horrible things they did too. Even more so since the majority of people's ancestors were just stupid farmers and factory workers.

People with high iqs would be nothing without people with lower iqs. High iq people need a functioning society to be able to apply their talents.

>Okay? The first step to being a human is existing yes.
So, unless you want to be nothing, you should be happy for said genes.
>This doesn't make you special. This has been the case for most kids for several thousand years
Well, unless you prefer to be dead or feral, you should be also happy for raising.

Your intelligence/willpower also comes from raising and genes, so if ou are not proud about them, you probably should not be proud about anything.

>then you would be a hypocrite not to be ashamed of the horrible things they did too
You probably should. Unless of course you claim that your side did nothing wrong (which may be the best strategy :3)

Taking pride in shit that is expected of your parents is setting the bar really low dude.

Most white Americans did not have decedents that owned slaves, yet they are still blamed for it. Even if they did and they condemn it, they are still blamed for it. Does this seem fair to you? I am not going to be ashamed about shit I didn't do just like how I'm not going to take pride for landing on the moon.

>What is it like to be from a relatively poor country without much historical or contemporary achievement/relevance?
I'm originally from Bosnia.
Anyway national relevance doesn't matter that much compared to actual livings standards. That's why Norwegians are richer and happier than Brits despite Norwegians contributing much much less to the world than Brits.

National pride is a meme unless you've personally made a big contributions to the nation. Otherwise you're just another sheep.

This pretty much. National pride isn't going to make you get a job, get good grades, and make you work hard. That has to come from your own willpower.

It feels OK. You get more perspective on poverty that is for sure!

Always, ALWAYS some pseudo-intellectual comes with this ONE quote from Schopenhauer who has never read a single line of Arthur himself. Arthur was an "anti-semitic, racist, misogynist, reactionary, anti-democratic shitlord". He already despised humanity in its current state as ignorant and decadent. What IN THE FLYING FUCK! do you think he would think about your average soy slobbering, aids ridden leftist?

They would be busy just making a living anyway

Einstein said some similar shit. You can still be right about somethings even if you're "wrong" about most other things

Nothing in the racist things he wrote is contradictory to that quote, I really don't see your point in claiming that quote is somewhat less appropriate to the question of pride because he was racist.

For someone who is so confident in using silly terms like pseudo-intellectual to describe someone posting an image on a board like this you really have a narrow view yourself.

It could be worse I guess

I'm (also) from Bosnia
Born, grew up and finished high school in Bosnia
I like it and it has it's good sides but living in it isn't comfortable and things rarely work here and even when they do its only barely
Don't want to even try to build my life on something as unstable anymore
Can't see my future in Bosnia but nevertheless i still strongly support it's existence

Bio si u Bosni da tražiš oca Janeze?
