if i have children, i need 1 room per child (a room costs like 450€ a month) and i have to buy them decent clothes and stuff, pay for schoolbooks, trips, toys etc.

Nothing is going to change without a massive change in the way the economy is functioning. Every time they pass reforms to 'flexibilise' the job market, a necessary concession to the market economy, they make employment more uncertain.

Because my country has the exact opposite problem. I do monthly workshops on sex education and healthcare for the poor and to prevent teenage pregnancy. Our society and culture love children, cannot stop having children, your family asks you for it etc. So to see euros who are more advanced economically struggle in this just...it boggles my mind. Again because I work closely with doctors and social services here to help lower teenage pregnancy and give health education, so the subject is on my mind quite a bit. Also because this subject in particular seems to get reactions out of people who either start insulting me or calling me a poltard. Mostly though it is curiosity at a culture that seems so different from my own.

you have to get a stable, well-paying job that's also going to leave you capable of taking care of the children. that means you need high education. the best universities are in zagreb, but your family first has to be able to support you there. if they don't have a lot of money, you need to do well and ensure that you get student housing. so you pass high education. you get a long-term girlfriend. so now you need a place to stay. unless your family can pay for a flat, you're going to both have to work while renting a flat. most people who can't afford their own flat won't have a child at that age because it means they'll have to keep renting, which is not completely secure. you might lose that place. so you go look for a job and try to get your own place. after that calvary, you could say that your child is going to have a future.
