I work in the industry and had a chance to talk to some of the people close to the project. For years there have been rumours that Canada sent the U.S. freakish super wolves or somehow modified wolves. Of course that's nonsense but the live trappers did select the biggest and most aggressive from their traps. Partially because it got rid of the largest threats to local hunting and trapping interests and partially just for the bantz.

Hunting is different in most of Europe than it is in North America. Everything here is highly managed and hunters pay for that management and are a vital part of the formula that includes things like ecosystem carrying capacity, predator/prey relations, climate cycles, disease vectors, fecundity, habitat conservation, funding, etc.
They aren't privately owned and managed like in most of Europe or Africa, they are publically owned and managed. You shouldn't weigh in on things you know nothing about.
