/remote work/ general

Just a thread for the remote bros who get to browse Jow Forums all day, work 1-2 hours and then reel in a /comfy/ salary to go with their gainz. We've already made it.

How do you into remote work?

Get into tech. Most companies give remote work options these days

My dream is to work remotely. I have no idea where to start because I'm a trades wagie. I've tried to pick up different coding languages but it seems like a long slow road to nowhere.

What do I devote myself to to become maximum remote work/telecommuter fag? pls

live in a cheap third world country. 2 hours 15 minutes of work 5 days a week and i have enough money to live comfy and buy $500 worth of shit coins every month. pretty content desu

What do you do user?

>Get into tech
What sector exactly? Coding?

What country and what do you do?

i teach chinks english online. easiest shit i've ever done. have the rest of the day to do whatever i want. i'm currently putting together a small business. i have lots of free time so i'll just do more work that satisfies me and keep the chink gig as my safety net. i work from 5am to 8am. finished before everyone else even starts.

Colombia. it's an easy life here

You just need to pick 1 language and build stuff that you're interested in. Only way you'll learn without going to school or some type of boot camp. I recommend Python.

Do you know chinese?

Is life ok in Colombia? Isn't it a really dangerous, underdeveloped place?

That's true, I live in a decent shithole and I've always wanted to give ideas about it to interested people. Ask me anything...

I keep hearing on the interwebs that code boot camps and CS degrees are a meme. What is the Jow Forums consensus on this?

Specifically I keep reading things like
>I'd rather hire someone with a good portfolio and projects with no education rather than someone with no portfolio/projects and a degree.
>Finished my degree two years ago and still can't find entry level work/ decent paying work.

>sector
cryptotrading bots

python

theyre a meme for most people. you really have to apply yourself as a man or if youre a woman just go through udacity, they have tons of """diversity partners""".

Is there much opportunity for remote work doing this? I guess I'd try and freelance and sell my services online as a Javascript wizard or whatever... Or will I end up waging for some tech giant or """startup"""?

I have a friend who's moved to Colombia from Canada. He has purchased land, built himself (with his UK wife) a treehouse airbnb type business. Originally helped him move there when we went on a boys surf trip to visit some Canadian guys that have a surf camp / hostel type business on the tropical coast.

Trust: it's amazing. The big cities are no worse than any other big city in a 1st world country. Medellin and Bogota are world class. Cartagena is touristy but quaint (very typical colonial latin city).

If you check out youtube for videos of guys who are doing remote work there, you'll see it's pretty good. It's not cheap like the good cheap Asian countries, and there's trouble with American imports (so some goods are really expensive), but otherwise, it's good there.

Jonathan, we've been concerned that you've been slacking off while working remotely and this post appears to confirm that. Sam will be sending you a meeting invite tomorrow morning to discuss the feasibility of continuing your contract.

>i teach chinks english online. easiest shit i've ever done. have the rest of the day to do whatever i want.

Chatting to them and shit? I always considered TEFLing, dat time difference, though - 5am start, ouch.

>i teach chinks english online.
But on what platform? A private chatroom? Skype? A website that hires english teachers and puts them in contact with chinks?

you probably will have to do some years wageslaving before you can get a remote position as they are coveted jobs.
