England declared war on Finland in the first Crimean war of 1853.
English ships sailed on Middle-Ostrobothnian shores and bombarded city of Kokkola.
However the Finns managed to beat them.
Finland never attacked England in retaliation.
English liutenant named Wise demanded the surrender of Kokkola city and that they give all their ships to the British, then the city would be left alone. Finnish man in charge, named Roos, disagreed and battle ensued.
Little did the British know that Finland had field artillery which started to fire at British ships.
English HMS Vulture ship was sunk and 20 Britons died.
