Funnily, the similarity of Slovene sneg and English snow got me into reading about linguistic and Indo-European language family.
>snjógvur
wrong
it's kavi
this looks like one of the very few words that remained similiar in all european languages since PIE
usually there is a visible divide between slavs, germanics and romance
>Neu
back to Jow Forums
Yeah, there are some others, like water, mother, sister, brother, two, three, no...
in the polish slang, especially in Silesia, "no" means "yep"
While we do use "silġ" for snow, if not mistaken the proper word is "borra".
Actually now that I think of it, "silġ" is ice, not snow. Fuck we don't even use our words properly, and now I'm confused.
>Neiger
>Neiger
>Turkey
>Kara = BLACK
>Kar = snow
Does it ever snow in Malta? Have you ever seen snow?
>s-borra
No, for both.
>france
>neiger= snow
Oh shit, don't tell me we got it from that...
>different words have different meanings
woah
>neiger
Damn, that's kinda sad, snow is great.
Our atmosphere is too hot for snow to form apparently. I hear snow's a bit inconvenient tho.
related to albanian?
I doubt it. I think this has the answer.
WE SPESHYUL
>I hear snow's a bit inconvenient tho
Think about having to store extra set of wheels for your car and changing them twice a year. And the winter set is noisy on a dry road but you have to use it anyway just in case wintery weather strikes.
>I hear snow's a bit inconvenient tho.
Only in the morning after the snowfall. It's inconvinient in places that usually do not get a lot of snow, like Britain, while countries that get frequent snowfall usually know how to deal with it.
Not to mention the rust wet snow causes on older cars
What I'm getting from this is that it's nice to look at, but a bit annoying.
>Cheimon and Himalaya are related
pretty neat
Yeah, but its not a problems once the roads are cleaned. Snow also makes a very pleasant screeching sound when you walk on it, and it makes dark winter days a little brighter
Might be from Βορράς.

I'll see snow IRL one day, I just have to travel.
It might be.
And laya means to lay, which basically translates Himalaya to laying snow.
