and that's a BAD thing

>looks Jewish
Yep

if our PM did that to our flag our country would balkanize in 10 seconds flat.

Why ;_;

Because superficial displays of patriotism are considered tacky and pointless

>draft dodger
>american

It's like you guys don't love your own country of something

Buncha baka desus

Then why do they make people so mad

>superficial
its not just a fucking flag, its not superficial at all. it represents something much more than what it is. thats the point of a flag's existence. i dont mean to be rude but i keep fucking hearing this and its like im talking to a brick wall. like it just cannot register in your minds

Because normal people aren't cringelords who treat their flags like religious idols

It's because in most countries patriotism doesn't take the form of some quasi-religious cringefest

>acknowledging and respecting what your flag represents and how many millions of people have died to preserve it is cringe

Everyone understands what a flag is, we just don't see the point of hugging it and venerating it like a religious idol.
We show out patriotism by gladly paying higher taxes to create a better society, giving up a few of the things we might like to create a safer country, believing that everyone in our country has a right to healthcare because they are all part of the country, etc. You can hug a fabric representation of your beliefs though, it's certainly much easier and doesn't actually require you to make real sacrifices for your nation.

We do both.

One of for sure

>we show our patriotism by getting cucked into higher taxes

Because Merkel is a lady with class and waving a miniature flag like a jingoist hooligan is beneath her.

No you don't

You get what you pay for. American history and culture are based on personal greed. You don't care about your country, you care about yourself.

>No you don't
Yes we do.

Why are 20% of all homeless people veterans again?

It's 10%, which isn't any higher than any other group.

nchv.org/index.php/news/media/background_and_statistics/

You know how many homeless veterans there are in Germany?

0

This is the difference between a culture that relies on fake venerating patriotism that pretends to care about its co-citizens and one that is really concerned about the common good of a nation and its people.

Vets are only 7% of the population so that's still disproportionately high

Germany also has less than half a million veterans while USA has over 22 million. You would have a lot more homeless veterans if you had nearly as many veterans as we do.

>entire staff thinks you're an idiot and actively tries to counter your actions
I PUSH MY FINGERS INTO MY EEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESS

I said that before and I'll say it again, he's not a president, he's the avatar of USA

No we wouldn't because the number is irrelevant to the fundamental values of a country. In fact the American economy is disproportionatly larger than Germany's and could choose the same but it doesn't. In America you have senators saluting their veterans with one hand while cutting their access to housing and healthcare with the other one. In Germany no one give a shit about veterans or the army for that matter but these people are guaranteed healthcare and housing by the state.

This is just one out of many example that exemplifies the difference between the American and German mentality.

Yes they do
Have you been to your own country?

Pretty much this There were 770 homeless veterans in Canada last year (0.38% of the homeless population) and it was national news. They immediately increased the budget for vets by millions to address the issue.

That’s not precisely true. A lot of us care very very much about the myth, or idea of our country.

Why do you think we get so butthurt when you challenge the myth? That’s real butthurt, not superficial.

Butthurt isn't patriotism, action is.

Butthurt very much implies caring, and you said we don’t care about our country.

No, it implies an inability to express your realisation that America isn't as great as you were taught. It's impotent rage at the loss of a façade, not actual concern for the welfare of America and Americans.
They're mad that American propaganda doesn't reflect reality and ends at the American border when they should be mad that they were intentionally misinformed their entire lives.
A yank just called me a cuck 40 minutes ago for thinking that paying to make my country better is a good idea. That very common sort of American belief system is the opposite of care for one's nation.

I agree

This is the most painfully Canadian thing since Ryan Gosling defended rewriting history.
