I did B2 Spanish in Uni, I didn't really think the grammar was too hard. I don't know if there's any more grammatical shit to learn after that. I covered the use of all verb tenses and aspects. Towards the end, the only thing I found hard was reported speech (things like translating: My brother told me that his girlfriend had already gone to the cinema before we ate)

Honestly I couldn't tell you because I've never seriously studied the other languages.
For what it's worth, I have enjoyed starting with Spanish because learning Portuguese is so easy it's not even funny. I still haven't looked up any Portuguese grammar. I just spoke Spanish with a mate from Brazil, and he'd reply in PT. And over time, I'd just slowly substitute the Spanish words and grammar for PT words and grammar, and now I am able to read and write it fairly well. Pronunciation still needs some work tho.

So in reported speech, present simple becomes imperfect, preterite becomes pluscuamperfecto and future simple becomes conditional simple

It feels like I am stuck in some kind of language limbo for the last 2 years. Everyone compliments me on my english, yet I still can't reap full benefits of my knowledge. It's still isn't enough to read fiction books, watch movies, tv shows and understand all of what is being said without subtitles, and my speaking skill is non-existent. All it's good for is reading light stuff like news articles, technical documentation, non-fiction books, posts on zimbabwean sweater-knitting forum, watching stuff with english subs and impressing colleagues.

I do watch with subtitles. I don't even remember the last time i've watched something in my own language. I transitioned to watching stuff in eng somewhere around the last series of 4th season of Breaking Bad, when i didn't want to wait for them to be translated and watched them on release. I can watch some stuff without subs. BCS for example, once I got a hold on juridical terms and jargon after a couple of series. Sout park is probably easiest one to watch without subtitles. But i can't imagine doing it with stuff like Game of Thrones, where you've got an ansamble of various accents. Pretty mutch all of the britbongs stuff is impossible to watch without subs.

I tried to do exactly that about a year ago. I got to 100th page, I think, and I just couldn't go on. There's a new word in every single sentence. I still have a couple of hundreds words in my dictionary from it, which Im yet to rembember. At least I know what jackanapes and crannogman is now.

I got into the Jow Forums discord recently (i don't even lift, don't ask me how did i get there) and among hundreds of people, I was literraly the only person, using the voice channel.

Your objective must always be achieving full fluency in a language, AKA C2 and that includes getting rid of your accent, at least partially.
