Middle class people and high achievers, on the other hand, tend to lean towards the left, because their identities are created by themselves. They go to university abroad for a year, they might speak another language (such as French, the language of the elite amongst several upper class circles in Ireland). Far right supporters either did not have similar opportunities or resent supra-national organisations such as the EU because they believe it to undermine their identity.
