I can't keep defending it, I've always known it's a shithole and a cultural wasteland but I know that I can't just easily leave to a better country so my options are defending what I have or just admitting it's a shithole and I'm tired of doing the former.
I've traveled too much to not realize this. I've been all over England, and while I'd still probably choose to live here over the UK, it was fairly nice and yet it's one of the WORST Western European nations, so I can only imagine what it'd be like living in one of the best (Switzerland, Norway, Luxembourg, The Netherlands etc.). All of our modern exported "culture" is just shitty hollywood capeshit and all we do is destabilize the world because our democracy has failed due to our stupid, undereducated, aging, single issue voting electorate.
We spend so much tax money on our military to keep the budget high while infrastructure crumbles and social safety nets vanish, even social security will be gone soon. The worst part is the populace has been convinced this is a GOOD THING because social safety nets are for commies and things that help them are actually bad and a big, unnecessarily large military budget is good.
We are a cultureless, jingoistic, undereducated shithole and the only reason even some statistics about us show us in a positive light is because they don't show where personal money and resources are allocated. Inequality is reaching all time highs and nobody seems to care because everybody sees every issue as "republicans vs democrats" and "conservatives vs liberals" and they don't care about anything else, only spiting the other party, cutting their noses off to spite their faces. As long as the other side of the issue is mad, it doesn't matter if anyone actually got anything done, you made the other side mad so you win.
woke american wish other americans would admit it too rather than have this insane sense of entitlement and pride
Joshua Baker
are there many self hating englishmen?
Isaac Ward
*who
Samuel Reed
>military spending is 598.5 billion Now let's take 598.5 billion and divide it by 20.4 trillion (national annual gdp) Wow, a whopping 2.9%. Maybe it's not the fact that we spend too much on our military, maybe it's the fact that very little of the US economy gets taxed.
Isaiah Hall
Who gives a shit about what percentage of our GDP is? What matters is what percentage of our spending it is. Imagine if we cut it in half, we'd still have the highest budget out of any other country on earth and yet we could allocate so much more to things such as education, healthcare and infrastructure.
Stop defending this disaster, it's pointless.
Jaxon Peterson
>imagine being a self hating faggot like OP >imagine pretending you have no culture >imagine wanting to leave your family behind to move to Europe and be around other limp wristed timid faggots
No, let's raise income taxes for all brackets and keep the military. That way we keep our petrodollar from crashing and live like a 1st world country
Jose Howard
What is the point of this image? The people who live here LITERALLY do not complete middle school, fuck (and procreate) with their sisters, and have to teeth because of all the mountain dew they consume.
It's not even a fucking meme, this is true. This is the state of this country.
Tyler Ortiz
of course, i know englands a fucking shithole too, conservatives have rekt the only good thing about it which was the NHS and it's filled to the brim with dim-witted racists who seemingly want to inbreed themselves into the void. However, one of the few boons is that everyone KIND-OF knows its a bit shit, and only the demented skinheads prescribe to that ENGLAND IS THE BEEEEST mentality, which i find quite annoying in a few americans, or any nationality really - be realistic
Joseph Thomas
>unnecessary military spending You have to understand that a very large portion of our economy relies on the military right
Josiah Jones
That's another huge problem with this country, we dug ourselves into a hole with our military industrial complex by allowing them to lobby the fuck out of lawmakers so it basically forces us to be perpetually at war so a large part of our economy can survive. That is no way for a stable country to operate.
Angel Morales
It ALSO gives us incentive to destabilize large parts of the world, devolving them into war so that we can then profit by selling them arms.
We don't only fuck ourselves over, but large parts of the world. Directly (the Middle East) and indirectly (Europe due to the refugee crisis). We are a fucking blight on the world.
Blake Howard
We wouldn't be nearly as rich if it weren't for the military user. Be glad
Carson Nelson
who are we at war with now tho. a bunch of raghead insurgents? I don't think that is enough to keep our economy up my dude.
Connor Murphy
actually most of our military profits come from selling weapons to euros and MENA countries, not actually fighting them.
Lucas Martinez
How can you think that? Think about all of the resources and trade clout we have (or had). We wouldn't have to rely on our MIC at all - we chose to.
WE don't have to be at war with anybody, all we have to do is keep war happening around the globe and we can profit from it. You realize lobbyists from corporations such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon etc WANT war right? Why do you think that is? That question is rhetorical because of how obvious the answer is.
Carter Sanders
pro tip, northern europe in general is devoid of culture, so going to scandinavaia or netherlands isnt changing anything .
also stop being a faggot and make your own culture if you think the US doesnt have anything , why dont you go paint or mold or some shit
Samuel Lewis
Because that money comes back to the country and makes our lives better.
>All of our modern exported "culture" is just shitty hollywood capeshit Which countries actually qualify as having good culture then? I don't like capeshit either but we can't deny how strong America's cultural influence is.
Brandon Murphy
>pro tip, northern europe in general is devoid of culture, so going to scandinavaia or netherlands isnt changing anything . Completely baseless and idiotic thing to say, you aren't really this ignorant of the outside world surely?
>also stop being a faggot and make your own culture if you think the US doesnt have anything , why dont you go paint or mold or some shit I'll get right into painting, that'll do it, that'll give our country a deep rooted culture to be proud of and identify with.
You actually believe the average citizen benefits from military industrial complex profits? You're just being facetious right? You genuinely think we see any of that money?
Liam Roberts
What's wrong about that though?
Jonathan Williams
Idk Americans just like to shit on their own culture. Sure some of the more subtle things are lost in the translation of movies and music, but it's still American.
Jeremiah Edwards
I never denied how strong our cultural influence is, I'm saying that our "culture" that we export is garbage. What do you have in your country, culturally, that is American? Shitty movies and music. I guess fast food is a part of American culture too, so you can do ahead and lump in all the Mcdonalds and KFCs. This is not a culture to be proud of exporting.
Owen Smith
Because I'm from there and even though it isn't the greatest place I am not so much of a self hating faggot like you who would up and leave behind the rest of my people to go to some perceived paradise in Europe. Sure I fit some of the stereotype. I didn't go to college and I've had to have teeth extracted. Can't afford to go anywhere and there ain't much to do outside of drinking, hunting, and fucking but the lot of us are still happy. We still have fun.
Austin Cruz
The refugees are fleeing mainly from Syria, a country that is in a Civil War because Shia muslims and Sunni muslims hate each other. How is this America's fault?
Jaxson Mitchell
nothing Yes because it comes back here and circulates into the economy
Jason Moore
I've been to northern europe faggot, they are so americanized it isnt even funny. you havent been there so dont call me the ignorant one you little bitch. youre a whiney little bitch here in the states and moving away wont change that
Kevin Sanders
So you admit to essentially suffering due to the shithole you live in while never having traveled anywhere else - you is exactly the kind of American I was talking about. You don't care how shitty it is, it's AMERICAN so you like it and it's good. Who cares if it could be infinitely better right? It's American, that's all you need.
Brody Foster
not the guy ur talking to but what brings a hillbilly man like yourself to Jow Forums?
Juan Price
Stop pretending like we live in a shithole, it's easy to make a good living here
Brandon King
i think his logic is that we supplied the rebels to fight the government.this destabilized the country and forced many to flee. Now, however, them going to europe isn't our fault. There was even a huge tent city in saudi arabia for refugees but didn't get used.
Jayden Sullivan
Tell me where you went? I've been from Bergen to Oslo to Copenhagen to Stockholm. Yes they have American chains but no they are not nearly as "Americanized" as you want to believe. I actually felt that the people had a sort of close knit sense of bonding due to a shared, deep rooted, old culture. We do not have that here.
But again, tell me where you went, tell me what you did, you seem very cultured.
Cooper Nelson
Not the same guy but >actually felt that the people had a sort of close knit sense of bonding due to a shared, deep rooted, old culture There's places like that here too
Tyler Roberts
We literally destabilized the entire middle east. We gave arms to insurgent groups, tried deposing the Syrian government (among many others), and generally have been trying to stir up conflict in the region for decades. How are we not involved?
Logan Allen
Nearly 200 other countries to live in. Pick one.
Brayden Mitchell
>US destabilized middle east We only emphasized what was already there. The middle east has been shit since the partitioning of the Ottoman empire and the euros drawing of the new nation states in the Levant region.
Anthony Watson
Gee I wonder what was happening during 1945 that made our military budget so high
And Iran and Russia supply Assad (aka the murderous dictator). The worst thing one can say about America is that you're pissing in an ocean of piss
Nicholas Reyes
Is it that easy? Can I just apply for citizenship in Switzerland and get it?
Oh wait, it's fucking not, even if you're an experienced skilled laborer. Why do people always say this? "Just leave bro lmao" like it's that easy? Do you have any idea how hard it is to immigrate to a highly developed nation? How long it takes?
Samuel Murphy
(((they happened))) But seriously imagine how mindblowingly massive the US military would be if we went total war again
Joseph Rodriguez
OP you are smashing this thread btw some these replies are gold my hat is off to you, based-sir
Anthony Adams
Move to Spen and then get work in another Schengen country
Gabriel Butler
yeah but america does it, it's literally worse than hitler mmmkay
Owen Diaz
I'm mostly here for /lang/. Language learning isn't exactly a hobby I need money to participate in.
Carson Ortiz
Russia involves itself in regional conflicts out of necessity. Their economy makes the grasp of our military industrial complex look tiny in comparison
Camden Adams
OP is based and is too good for America. You deserve better
Except first I'd have to spend years learning the language (adequately) of whatever nation I plan on settling in, then probably more years waiting for my application to process, and even then it still may not be accepted.
People who say shit like "just leave" are not based in reality. If I could live somewhere like Norway or Switzerland that easily, I and MANY others would.
Nathaniel Davis
>so I can only imagine what it'd be like living in one of the best (Switzerland, Norway, Luxembourg, The Netherlands etc.).
>I can only imagine
stop lying faggot you havent been to those places
Lucas White
I said living in you illiterate dumpster
Ryder Jenkins
>i don't want to be happy because that requires effort so i'm going to sit here and complain instead
awesome bro, what language? what do other hillbillies think about you learning another lang?
Ryan Cox
Americans have an easy time moving to the UK if that suits your fancy
Caleb Reed
I have to work full time to survive, I don't have TIME to focus full time on learning a language and I'm not going to be that dickhead that moves to a country without knowing their language (if they even let me), I could do it extremely part time which would take years and then it'd take THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars to move me (and by then my wife, since we'd likely be married by the time it all gets processed) across the Atlantic. It's just not feasible.
Dylan Ortiz
Ok my bad big dawg , another point is you said u like those places because they had a tight knit community well guess what? unless you know somebody there personally its going to be hard as shit getting into those communities
Adam Harris
>conservatives have rekt the only good thing about it which was the NHS and it's filled to the brim with dim-witted racists who seemingly want to inbreed themselves into the void God Jow Forums really is the worst board on the site
Yeah, so which countries do you deem as having good culture then? Just want to understand what your criteria are.
Blake Garcia
The culture isn't simply isolated to individual groups, it's shared by everybody that lives in those countries. Everywhere I went I felt it. England, while somewhat similar to America and not hard to navigate due to no language barrier, just FELT entirely different. It's hard to put into words, but if you go to these places you'll know. There are all these little intricacies about their culture, as shallow as standing on the right on the tube escalator to as deep rooted as ancient May Day celebrations.
Noah Cook
nah /sci/ is pretty shit. >DUDE IM A UNDERGRADUTE AND KNOW MORE THAN YOU
Grayson Cox
"Good" is subjective, but if you want my opinion, mostly Western old world countries. I don't necessarily like all of the individual cultures but by "good" I mean they're valid and, more importantly, respectable.
Austin Thompson
>I suffer in America.
Thomas Kelly
prove me wrong
Luis Gutierrez
The NHS is dogshit and racism is a natural reaction to the Amerimuttization of Britain.
Levi Brown
I'm not denying that there are good things about our country, or at least things that make it more livable than less developed countries. I'm saying we could be WAY BETTER, we have so much potential and yet it's largely wasted because of how stupid the average person is.
We genuinely could be the most livable nation on earth EASILY with good policymaking, but we don't have that.
Ayden Evans
I've studied German off and on for several years but a month ago I resolved to reach an upper intermediate level again and hopefully one day travel to Germany. I have family who know people there. Mostly the reaction is "what will you use that for?" I've been flirting with the idea of learning Spanish as well as I've been meeting more and more hispanic people so today I decided to start. Should be interesting to hear what others have to say about this one though. Contrary to popular belief we are not a lot of racist bigots. Appalachia was largely abolitionists during the Civil War, even the southern reaches.
David Walker
>Contrary to popular belief we are not a lot of racist bigots.
You ABSOLUTELY are. The racism, inbreeding, and poor education stigmas attached to your region are all based in truth.
"People are racist here" isn't really something you can have a reputable source for as it's mostly conjecture.
Christian Thompson
what part of the country are you from user and are you a second gen immigrant?
Levi Lewis
>what part of the country are you from user Coastal Florida (I have to make the distinction because inland is the true shithole) >and are you a second gen immigrant? No
Isaiah Wilson
This op you better kill yourself Europe is a fucked up place even worse than the States, I have been to enough countries in Europe in order to be absolutely sure about that.
Justin Moore
its dogshit now, however it used to be pretty good
also this absurd (and laughably supercilious) notion that ANYONE in Europe is being Americanised is downright ridiculous. We watch American TV and collectively laugh at how base and vacuous the shows are. It's not even a concern, everyone hates Americans here (because they tend to be so arrogant+ignorant), so there's no chance of anything like that i'm afraid.
Easton Morales
yo dawg snap this fool in your cringe compilation
Kayden Cook
Good thing we don't live by what charts say. I bet you think Deliverance was a documentary too.
Nolan Bailey
>82 posts and only one by a european Holy shit. Well. I'll be the second.
OP, you are correct. USA is an evil shithole. We forgive you for being american because you are ashamed. You are welcome in Europe.
Michael Ramirez
>Good thing we choose not to believe cited statistics about our states' population haha, that nullifies them
>I bet you think Deliverance was a documentary too. No, good movie though
Chase Clark
>You are welcome in Europe. No he is not you deluded moron, except if you want to take him to your own country which I highly doubt.
Isaac Jenkins
nice follow ur dreams lad, I am already advance B2 in German after years of studying it , learning german actually the big reason how I might my fiance you never know what language learning will offer. Spanish is also a cool lang
Jason Gray
He is 100% welcome in Finland. All sensible people are. You are not. Subhuman slave.
Dylan Rivera
woah you would have to put in work and actually be useful to immigrate somewhere, what a crazy thought? just renounce your citizenship and parachute into a different country as a refugee please
Henry Reed
He isn't even interested in your frozen shithole you illiterate moron, you'd know that if you had read the entire thread instead of just posting your meaningless garbage like "LMAO UR WELCOM HERE" as if you were in charge of that, idiot.
Anthony Barnes
Unless you're unskilled and from the Middle East, it seems. And no, this goes way beyond "putting in work". You can put in all the work you want, it'll still possibly take decades to get citizenship and that's after you actually have the thousands and thousands of dollars saved up that you'd need to emigrate.
I would love to live in Finland, Poland (while it does have a very pretty and storied culture) is not really that high on places I'd like to live.
He is welcome in all of Europe, including Poland and Finland. You said you doubted that I would accept him in Finland so I said he would be welcome here. But, you are a third world slave so you are only capable of insulting your superiors without thinking about what is really going on
Lincoln Morgan
Switzerland and Luxembourg are maybe the two most boring countries in Europe. Having a high GDP doesn't automatically make a country good
Thomas White
Admittedly I've never been so I can't say what the culture and general zeitgeist of those countries are like, but on the surface they seem nice. Point stands with places like Norway and The Netherlands however.
Easton Taylor
Muhammed, go back
Ian Gonzalez
>superiors Yeah, that's why I never discuss anything in here anymore, how can someone staying up all night posting on imageboards claim to be superior than anyone else lmao, you are literally at the very bottom yourself you pathetic trash, go kill yourself. He doesn't know that, he's a burger after all.
Isaiah Barnes
>also this absurd (and laughably supercilious) notion that ANYONE in Europe is being Americanised is downright ridiculous How come I have to go to Jow Forums to see opinions this absurd?
David Martin
I am a non hispanic white American and my ancestors have been here for around a century. If I could "go back" to somewhere like Germany or Norway I would.
Christopher Barnes
>tfw highly specialized worker with the money to move to any country I want >tfw moving to switzerland soon for at least 5 years for new job
