Why are Turks so sensitive over people calling Istanbul "Constantinople"?
Up until 1923, the name was officially "Konstantiniyye in the Ottoman Empire anyway.
It doesn't have anything to do with irredentism, it's just a western dialect. Like how English speakers call Moskva "Moscow".
