>trying to unfuck my credit
>follow advice from anons on here
>it works
>try to carry over a 1% balance on my credit card to get that utilization boost on my first statement
>discover gave me a credit for the $2 I left on it so I carried over 0% utilization
God fucking damn it.
Trying to unfuck my credit
>Sign up for my plastic card so you can go into debt, goy
>hey goy we see you aren't in debt yet here is more money to spend
>buy things you would be buying anyway with credit card
>pay it off in full every month after you get paid
>boost your credit score for free
Well that was hard, you just have to not be a consumerist drone with no self control.
This is not how they make money
Most places I know charge 1% or like 30$ for a transfer fee. Just go to the store and buy some tendies on your card.
That's basically what I did last month and it worked brilliantly, my scores shot up 50-60 points in a month.
Well I only got a $200 secured card so that I wouldn't go ham on it and get into debt, I used $60 and paid $58 early so that I would have a 1% utilization register on my FICO scores. Apparently though, because it was so little, they just zero'd it because it costs more to process the payment than it would if they just put it at $0.
It's cool that I don't owe them anything, but I had purposely left that tiny balance so that kind of sucks.
Best way to unfuck your credit score is have 3 credit accounts reporting under 30%. Have an installment loan paid on time or paid off and congrats 740.
I'm not going to knock what youre doing. They don't teach us finance in school so you're stuck listening to Chan. I find it much more worrisome that you're structuring your sentences like $200.00 is a lot of debt. I would worry more about my income and how I can get it to $200 a day. Credit score doesn't mean much if you don't have enough capital to leverage it.
Well I got this card and my score went up, but experian was only 610. I applied for another card and got denied and it dropped to 595 instantly before climbing back up to 611. My other two scores are 712 and 708 (just updated equifax today) though, hopefully experian updates soon.
It's not that I consider $200 a lot of debt, I just don't want to give myself room for error. It's a lot easier for me to make a $60 payment than it is to make a $600 one no matter what, you know? I'm self employed so I don't like to have high debt ceilings above my necessities. This is my first credit card so I'm still a bit gunshy on the interest rates and what not.
You are dumb. Pay off your balance in full every month full fucking stop.
The point is that credit cards are not automatically a one way ticket to debt used only by idiots as some people here make out.
I dislike credit cards for their rent seeking drain on merchants and commoditization of individual spending data. Enough to use cash most of the time if it's a place I regularly shop.
I've heard that having the utilization helps though, and that having 0 balances can actually hurt your credit.
more like good goy score
Everyone that lends credit uses a different model to score that credit. Auto lenders, mortgage lenders and merchant cars issuers all run differing scoring models. The only thing that matters is you have credit and use it.
With a balance that little, I'd be using the card like a debit card and paying off the balance due before interest accrues. This is to increase the amount of credit I have available which would let me spend more while keeping utilization below 200.
You're self employed. Don't fall into that normie trap of oh boo, I have no self control. Create a system that will never let that happen.
It does help, but it won't hurt to pay it off in full. You don't lose points for not utilizing, you just gain a few if you do. For me personally it was like 5 points. Not a big deal but it bumped me into the 700 bracket which was well worth the minimal interest I'd pay
Yeah, solid advice for sure and I appreciate it. Like I said, I'm just nervous but I'll try to do it like you're saying, it makes total sense.
Yeah, I'm hoping I can get there. I qualify for VA loans and I'm paying $1200/month in rent right now so I'm looking to buy a couple of small homes from a family member for cheap. They're both on one property so I want to buy them and live in one while renting the other to pay the note and basically live for free. That's the plan anyways.
dont listen to the dumb fucks in here. here is how you build your credit score, plain and simple.
Use your credit ALOT, Pay your credit ON TIME. There is no fast track to a good score, it takes years to build up. I went from 450 fico to 780 as of today in 3 years. If you have a family member who trusts you (with good credit) ask them to add you on as a user to a high limit card as this available credit will boost your score as well.
Get a good points card and use it for EVERYTHING, take those points and apply them to your balance every month. With the right card you will get basically 2-4% discount on everything you spend. Shit i just put a down payment for a car on my chase card which was an instant 4% off.
>never use credit in my life
>no loans
>nothing
>check credit score
>640
>the literal kikes ding my good boy points because I refuse to engage in usury
>despite paying all bills on time forever
I jumped about 130-140 points in about 3 months just getting rid of all the bullshit debt collectors by disputing everything and then getting this one card. I had like 3 or 4 fraudulent accounts open and a bunch of indian scumbags trying to get money from me that I never owed to anyone.
Yeah, that's basically what I had after I got rid of the indians. After I got my card it jumped to 700 almost instantly.
What dealership you buy from? Any dealership that would take a 3.5%hit on processing your down payment is drunk, retarded, or on their way out of business.
BMW. Go in an hour before they close, know in advance what you want to spend and exactly which car you want. When time comes to pay the down, whip out your card. At this point they've invested too much time and paper work to tell you no.
I also have 8 years of perfect credit history with BMW financial services so that gives you a little extra pull.
8 years of perfect credit history but you were at a 450 FICO 3 years prior?
Perfect credit history with BMW Financial Services. They don’t even run my credit when I upgrade. I filed bankruptcy 6-7 years ago, tanked my credit.
Not meaning to grill you - just think it's important this stuff is laid out as your corcumstances are not commonplace. I'm also assuming you either come from wealth or have made your network generally those of high net worth. If I may ask, what line of work? 2011 is a bit too late for a real estate related bankruptcy.
Self employed commercial photographer, had a slow year that took a toll on my finances and basically wrecked me for a little bit. Only way to get out of a lease for my studio was to file bankruptcy.
>not paying off CC the moment you use it, treating it like cash with rewards
Good goy
Well seems like you've done well for yourself since. Photography is not an easy field in my opinion. Thanks for your transparency and patience.
We've been over the utilization thing already, goy.
Don't bother, vredit card debt is forgiven after 7 years. look it up
