Nigger I'm American too and I can't distinguish as many as are in that map
awful map
yeah who tf made this
The map sucks, and the aliasing on the fonts is just horrendous.
>pacific northwest
we dont have an accent
People from Philadelphia and New York have fucking retarded dialects
T. New Jerseyan
Never noticed a Philly accent, but people from NYC to Boston sound like they have a massive cock in their mouths.
Real map.
West coast sounds really soft but cutting at the same time somehow, in the vowels and ends of words
Southern full on sounds like downs syndrome talk
What about standard American?
As a Southerner from the pink area, this nails the South.
>special mark for louisiana coast
>none for texas
wew lad
we have nearly the same accent as Philadelphia in most of NJ
I don't know how someone knows what Pennsylvania German English is and yet doesn't know Philadelphia/Central+South NJ/ Delaware accents are
we do not belong in "North Midland" whatever the fuck that is
this map is insanely arbitrary
Michiganders sound nothing like Minnesotans you nut
honestly think it's a joke map as it makes no sense
or was made by a foreigner
>standard American
Y'know, the type that news reporters use. pacific Northwesterners really don't have an accent, they use standard American.
vocaroo.com
Does this sound distinctive to you?
Except that's wrong and reporters try to use a type of Midwestern accent
Yeah it does
Sounds kinda western
hmm, i've never had anybody ever comment on my accent so i just figured that there was nothing there
>God tier
Minnesota

Jew York

Negrospeak
ChicANOspeak
This. What the fuck?
This. I moved to Washington from the southeast and this is the most neutral accent (or lack thereof) imaginable.
that one's fine, the more moderate the better honestly. The news accent on men is fine but i just cannot fucking handle it on chicks its so fucking painful to listen to.
Most American accents are memes. The only ones that exist in various intensity are West Coast, Southern, East Coast and Midwestern(upper Midwestern honorable mention)
>Upper midwestern
Sound like hurr hurr durr durp do de do de do
They all sound like fat mouthbreathers chewing on gum
Pretty much everything from the plains west has no discernable accent.
>dialects
Nigga, there ain't such a thing in America
There's literally only these:
Southern
Midwestern
Californian
General American
you sound insufferable jesus christ
What difference does it make? I'm sure no matter the dialect, y'all speak like a girl, uptalking as if you've never had a dad.
Dialects in the US are dead, there's only passive-aggressive estrogenized speech now. Brits and Canadians follow suite.
Shameful and vulgar.
>to Minnesota?
>you're gonna hear it the most there?
>places like Wisconsin and North and South Dakota?
WHAT DID I SAY? Kill yourself, my man.
youtube.com
Where's that accent from? Sounds like north-western but what the fuck do I know.
Sounds hot as hell though.
No New York or New England, huh?
Noo Yawk city.
Thanks man, if someday I get rich I now know where to buy myself a wife.
>primarily where you gonna hear it?
Stop.
>It has been noted in speech heard in areas of Canada, in Cape Town, the Falkland Islands, and in the United States where it is often associated with a particular sociolect that originated among affluent teenage girls in Southern California (see Valleyspeak and Valley girl). It was observed in Mississippi in 1963 (see "Twirling at Ole Miss" in Red-Dirt Marijuana and Other Tastes).
>Elsewhere in the United States, this tonal pattern is characteristic of the speech heard in parts of the rural Upper Midwest that have come under the influence of Norwegian phonology through Norwegian migration to Minnesota and North Dakota.
C h o k e .
vocaroo.com
Thiff iff literally you.
No ekffcuveff, fftop talking like a girl.

i wonder if the yooper accent fits into the deep north accent
I'm not saying you have a lisp, I'm just using lisp as a self-demonstrative example of why you can't say "uptalk is not gay because vikings did it too". It's inherently girly!
And I don't have a problem with your accent like the other anons you're debating, just with the rising intonation at the end of sentences.
Here's an informative video on it:

I genuinely do not understand how a californian/pacSW accent differs from regular english
and no, Im not a surfer or from the valley
I don't either and I'm pretty well traveled within the US and a WAfag.
I've taken this a couple times and its been pretty accurate (I'm a lexington boy)
>uptalk is not gay because vikings did it too
I didn't mean to imply that
I was trying to point out the accent has always had uptalk and that I wasn't getting how it's girly
Valley girls are made fun of for being obnoxiously whiny about it, not for having uptalk
It's a linguistic distinction
Like how you can tell a Californian by how they say cat or freeway instead of highway
wtf?
How do you say cat other then 'cat'?
Yeah but that's not the same as an accent. Freeway did rub off on me though after moving to WA. Dunno what you mean about cat.
soft T and with an H sound so it comes out more as Cah than C-at
I can tell the difference between people from the PNW and Southern Californians
It really bothers me hearing East coasters say milk
>with an H sound
nigga what the fuck?
Look it up on youtube. I'd vocaroo it but it's too late for that shit
what accent, youtube is just giving me stupid cat videos
>It's a linguistic distinction
>Like how you can tell a Californian by how they say cat
Bullshit. I have never heard any other pronunciation of "cat" and I've spent years in California. I've never heard it anywhere else for that matter, either.
>or freeway instead of highway
Freeways and highways are separate and distinct concepts and any Californian will tell you that.
pretty spot on considering I was raised in San Jose.
The Pittsburgh accent is fucking disgusting.
still better than boston
True.
Thank God it's dying out. By far the worst dialect found in Appalachia.
upper midwestern best
>tf
>tp
>Be from NE Wisconsin
>Have Wisconsin accent
>Basically have a Canadian accent
>Visit the South
>Get mistaken as a Canadian
I don't know if Southerners think that they are the only Americans with accents or if I only met retards while I was down there.
People on the West Coast and in the Rockies will also call you Canadian if you start yapping at them
We are forgotten except when the Packers play.\
such is life in America's Dairy Land
Could be worse
You could be Indianan
you poor bastard
I'm South Dakotan
sweet jesus
Sweet Jesus what?
I don't what it's called but i really like the accent the host in the twilight zone had. It has probably vanished by now though.
I dunno about best but by far the worst are that jewish new york one
Pretty sure he just had a Transatlantic accent
Which doesn’t exist anymore really
Oy vey
New England, Boston, the one that sounds stereotypically Canadian and Southern are the only ones that aren’t shit
