i'm Mongoloid.
I understand some words in Turkish. It's surprisingly similar in numerals - Biir - Ikki - Ys (one two three for example).
We don't have any other relations with Turks tho.
Language is preserved, pretty much every Yakut (Sakha) speak this language and even some Russians. Yakut language is forced to be used in some govt doings to preserve it.

I'm Uzbek. I hope Sakha is freed soon.

Salaries and infrastructure in general is pretty good relatively to western parts of Russia. But we have extreme cold climate that only locals can handle. But last 10 years we experiencing the huge amount of work immigrant but it's ok.

Actually most of us are Pagans, but those who close to Russians culturally calls themselves Orthodox, but in reality most of Sakha people are irreligious or pagan.

Also, I've never experienced anything colder than -30°C, so I'm wondering how people cope with having even a little bit of exposed face. In my case, 15 minutes of -30°C was enough for my eyes to start struggling, for example. Not to mention how swollen my cheeks were, of course.

My state experienced -50F a few years back during an Arctic blast, and it doesn't feel that much different than standard below zero temperatures. The difference is, the timespan where you start realizing that your body is being negatively effected by the weather is way shorter. When I took my dog out that night, it was like 5 minutes and I realized I really had to go inside.

I suppose that makes sense. I just find it amazing how a major city like Yakutsk can still function seemingly normally even in -50°C, as for example my daily commute involves 15-20 minutes of walking.
