This is Silvio Santos, likely Brazil's richest man. He owns and founded one of the largest TV stations in the country (SBT) and is all in all one extremely successful individual. However, there's a video on Youtube where he says life is 100% about luck and nothing else. He claims that some people have a lot of luck (as he did), some people have little luck (the really unfortunate ones) and that some people have luck in the right amount. He basically means to say that effort and persistence don't take you anywhere and that it really is all about luck. The richest man in Brazil says luck is all you need.
youtu.be/S6eqWLxOifQ?t=1m10s (it's obviously in Portuguese, but this is the moment in the video he makes these claims)
Do you agree with Silvio Santos, Jow Forums? Is life nothing but luck?
Luck is what people say when they can't pronounce cronyism and nepotism.
John Perez
Yeah, probably. Hopefully I get lucky enough that there's a revolution soon
Luis Cruz
persistence and talent increase your chances at success but do not guarantee it. luck plays a significant factor in being successful.
Tyler King
>cronyism and nepotism
Aren't those just luck in the end?
Kevin Brooks
Everybody talks about survival of the fittest, but often it really is survival of the luckiest.
Hunter Martinez
He was a poor salesman during his youth, he literally climbed the whole social ladder.
Gabriel Jackson
yes your life is almost completely determined as soon as you are born by things you have no control over (your genes, your location, your parents and their socioeconomic status), no amount of hard work will make you a multibillionaire if you're born as a disabled child from a poor congolese family
Luis Foster
Nepotism maybe is pure luck. You can't affect which family you are born into. But you sure can practice to get better at making friends and get help from them to find jobs or apartments or whatever (aka cronyism).
Josiah Adams
thats depressing yo, so there's nothing these unlucky people can do?
But you have to be lucky so the people you are trying to become friends with actually become friends with you. Social interactions are extremely complex, so luck plays a huge part. You can't possibly say "hurr just improve yourself".
Jose Nguyen
>likely Brazil's richest man. Kkkkkkkk
Are You dumb?? He is not even top 100, dumbass
William Ortiz
Still rich and successful, doesn't matter.
Jordan Ortiz
No it isn't. You can take two twins, adopt them to different families.
One works hard tries stuff learns stuff and the other just gives up trying to achieve anything because of depression or bad social role models or internet brainwashing or whatever. It is many % more sure the first one will accomplish more in life.
Henry Thomas
Social interactions can be complex, sure. But if you try you are sure to succeed more often than if you just give up and stop trying.
Parker Clark
Nature vs nurture etc etc etc
Justin Gonzalez
we have one like that as well. his name's silvio berlusconi
William Myers
Looks italian

It seems like they just jump in his car. Why didn't they let him talk most of this was kissing his ass "brazil will stop and cry when you die" what's all that weird shit? LMAO. but he was good when he could talk, he is right about it being luck and how you carry yourself.
David Williams
It's an informal interview made by this dude who makes entertainment videos. It's not supposed to resemble the kind of interview you would see being done in a TV studio.
>brazil will stop and cry when you die That's true tho, the country will come to a halt when he dies. Don't know if you're a Brazilian in Ireland, but he is extremely popular here and has become a part of the culture basically. Long live Silvio.
Andrew Cook
What OP forgot to tell you guys is that he is JEWISH.
Colton Gutierrez

I am a little bit envious of you sometimes Italy. I am swede and swedish men are too much of pussies to dare to grab what they want in life like this Silvio does. We channel this envy into some kind of gutmench mentality that people like Silvio are bad and we are good. It's kind of sad really.
