Why do people think their heritage is such a huge deal?
I mean I wouldn't care if it turns out I have Spanish ancestors. I was born in Switzerland and the only times I even was in Spain was for vacation. I know nothing of their culture and I sure as hell wouldn't call myself Spanish.

I use to care about having Irish ancestry until I studied in Ireland.

My family claims to be Irish american despite the fact that on both my mom and dad's side the closest immigrants from ireland we found came here in the fucking 1600s. We just maintained an Irish last name. I'm not a fucking mick, I'm 6ft 2 with tan skin, blue eyes and my ancestors are all from this country. To me it is way more cool to have roots all the way back to thw first colonists and be a direct descendent of a founding father as well as other significant historical figures(dont want to name them lest I dox myself).
