Not neccesarily the case where i grew up. I think thats mostly the case with old generation mena christians. In my arab community it was mostly lower-middle class people and a bunch of refugees that they sponsored.

The way things break up around here is Syrians, Iraqi, and the small amount of magrebis all are very good students who pursue jobs in the tech field. Palestinans and Lebanese run food business or become doctors. Egyptians and Yemenis are mostly socialites that run the local mosques and sports leagues.

Not many people come from aristocratic background. Its mostly hardworking immigrants build their community then sponsor refugees from, in recent years, Egypt, Yemen and Syria.
