Experience living in South Korea

I'm currently in uni in the US and in the future I'm considering moving to South Korea. Can anyone tell me their experiences they have had living there? I still have two years left of uni and I'd probably get a job in the US for a few years before I actually move. I'm currently taking a historical class about Korea, China, and Japan and I'm learning the language in order to get a head start on the citizenship test. My ultimate goal would be to get dual citizenship.

They like Americans even less than the Japanese. I wouldn't do it unless you are fully committed.

Like Americans in every aspect? Including Society?

those expats are sleeping

if you are white or caucasoid, you will be welcomed. if you are korean, they will be indifferent to you. if you are black or brown or arab, you will have a hard time there.

I'm a tall white guy. I'll have a degree in computer science and minor in math.

yankee go home

Added the extra part at the end because I forgot to add it in the intro.

Not true. Koreans love Americans and think they are all white.
You are golden and will be drowning in pussy.

That's what a lot of people say. Which is good I guess. It's hard enough finding a girlfriend here in the US. So I'm glad my chances go up by just being tall and white.

Perhaps.

For you to dual, you need to serve in their military.

South Korea is cool but they’ve seen so many Americans, often military guys, that they 1. Don’t see you as that ‘novel’ and 2. Probably think you’re a sexpat
Make an effort to learn the language and don’t be super sleazy, you’ll do fine

Really a very beautiful country imo

You have a source for that? From what I've read, dual citizens are exempt from military service. Which upsets a lot of koreans.

You cant have dual period.
But for citizenship you have be 4 generation korean.

I don't plan on going there just to bang woman all the time. I'd like to get a gf and live a normal life there. I do plan on learning the language and culture.

You better not be a proxy, asshole.

Only ethnic north koreans like me hates wh*Toids and generally hostile to foreigners. SK is about 50%north koreans and 50%south korean jap rape babies. Currently a north korean is in charge tho (thank god)

I've read there are other ways non ethnic koreans can obtain citizenship. Like living in korea for 5 years, having a job and contributing to the economy, know the language, history, and political system etc.

没有

new government by moon jae in (north Korean) doesnt want SK to get fucked up by foreigners (causes problems for eventual complete NK takeover of the Korean pennisula) he is pushing more laws to ban all foreigners to get sk citizenship.

英語を話して

So it would be very unlikely I would be able to get citizenship but I could still get something similar like a work visa or permit. Also what if I married a Korean girl? would I then get citizenship?.

Nope.

I really am on the Essequibo but I haven’t seen any other Guyanese flags here so I’d like to pretend I’m a proxy posting from a house with AC

Looks like I was misunderstanding the dual citizenship part in the sense it was to benefit koreans living overseas rather folks like me. So looks like I could become naturalized but I'd have to give up my US citizenship within 6 months.

So looks like my best option would be to get an Alien registration card.

Useless now but if the US ever goes to shit, and you don’t mind being invaded by China later, you have an escape route

My initial thoughts were't about escaping America per say, I know it's going to shit but I want to live/work in south korea because I find it interesting. I really like the asian cyberpunk aesthetic that Seoul has along with the transportation system and low crime rate.

but why?

Why I'd like to move there? I'd like a change in my life. A new chapter. A place where I can start over. Completely. Not by just moving to a different city in the US but having to learn a new language, culture, and lifestyle. A complete revamp. I want to experience life from a different perspective for 5-10 years. As I write this, I'm not entirely sure myself what prompted the idea for me to want to live in South Korea. I'm still unsure if I actually want to do this but the urge is there. I enjoy researching about it. Even though South Korea is pretty westernized, It caught my eye. Maybe it was the comfy transportation through the city, low crime rate, cyber punk aesthetics of the Seoul skyline to the calm, peaceful countryside. Or the porcelain white skin, and the jet black hair of Asian woman wondering all over the city. I find it very attractive. Although I listed some reasons on why I'd like to move there. Each day I seek new reasons and question if these reasons are worth it. So the reasons why I'd like to move there, shift over time. I may do all this research; Look back one day and see how foolish I was and what a waste of time of it was. But I will never regret it for it will offer useful life experience and a better understanding of a certain part of the world.

living abroad for a semester, for couple years is completely different from immigrating. once you experience insane nature of korean women, you may want to come back, but your skills at the point may not be transferrable. but as you arre cs, you could just jump the ship in 10years when life goes shit.
t. korean expat

Aren't all woman crazy? What kind of crazy are korean woman? I'm too poor to afford a study abroad trip but I'll visit the country a few times before I actually decide to move there. I do see your point. Maybe I was foolish to want to immigrate and become a citizen but I think just getting an Alien registration card is a better option for me.

Somehow people began to think that ‘traditional wife’ meant subservient and quiet - when in practice the ones that call themselves traditional use it as an excuse to act like a princess and literally throw fits on the ground
Really, talk to somebody with some experience with the ‘princess’ types, it’s a different kind of craziness and it’s up to you if that’s preferable

>jap rape babies.
historically speaking, "mongolian rape babies" is right

watch '이웃집찰스', or 'My neighbor Charles', is multi-cult psyop, but you can see all those white sexpats married to korean women are like
1. (non-Anglo) start a restaurant with their in-laws money, or be a NEET and live off his working wife's money
2. (Anglo) english teacher, and rarely real jobs every now and then.
regardless, the women control the bank account and every affairs in the house, and emasculate men. those full-time housewives expect their working husbands to do housework 50:50, which is insane.

Then I assume most korean gfs/potetional wives use this "traditional" label to get whatever they want and act like brats? I wasn't looking for a princess type or even a traditional household wife necessarily. I just want a chill gf. One to hang out and do fun actives with. Guess that's a rarity nowadays.

They don't let foreigners serve in the military. And by that I mean you have to be a blood Korean. In fact, it was only very recently that half breeds were allowed to serve.

More like "Ayylmao" registration card, amirite?

"Caucasoid" ranges from white European, North African, Asia Minor (West Asia), most of central Asia and more than half of South Asia. Huge pool of people.

I'll give it a watch. I've read that controlling the bank account and family affairs is common among Chinese wives but I wasn't sure if it applied to Koreans but It seems it does. I don't have a problem with the affairs of the household part but since I'm a number guys I'd like to take care of the finances. In regards to housework, if she doesn't have a job I expect it to be 80/20 but If she does work 60/40 seems reasonable. I'd like be more involved with more home maintenance rather than cleaning.

yeah i just noticed after posting it. my mistake

you don't have home maintenance in korea, as literally most of housing will be apartments, unless if you go to pangyo, which has 3stories Saitama-esque suburb housese. (but these are expensive af and usually for 30+ married couple with 2.5 kids

Dumb assumption on my part. Like you said most living spaces are apartments in Korea (Seoul mostly). I don't mind apartments. As long as it's decent and not in shitty area which I'm not sure what a shitty area would be considered in korea.

Asking for double nationality is retarded forger it.
You seem like someone who wants to travel, you are way too romantic about the whole thing. Go to Seoul as a fucking English teacher because you Can for a year. Put money on the side with this job. And then comeback when you realise you hate the country like most long time expats and like Koreans themselves

they can recognise arabs from say italians? i frankly can't

Daelim, Yeongdeungpo-gu (excluding Yeoido). generally, where chinese, pakistanis, and nigerians live

>t. cheonmin

No country is welcome because of foreign crime.
white, black or Chinese
It is full of criminals.
Come on, kill them, steal them,
And when they are caught, they run through the ambassadorial passage.
We refuse, except for Japan, which has a low crime rate.
Violent foreigners are all criminals.
Don't come.
