What are your opinions of your major cities?

A lot of people love Rotterdam. It’s a city like no other in the Netherlands, but it has a very clear working class heritage and the people are blunt even by Dutch standards.
Basically in the Netherlands there’s camp Amsterdam and camp Rotterdam which is a very underclass vs upper class thing.

This country is shit but Amsterdam, Utrecht and Groningen are often considered our nicest cities. Mainly because of their old typically Dutch city centres and shitloads of students/young people.
Furthermore Haarlem is very nice but it’s just a sleeper town nearby Amsterdam.

Amsterdam was beautiful for sure, but the fact that it's flooded with tourists just killed it for me. Part of me is sympathetic to those politicians who tried to introduce the wietpas or whatever

Tokyo isn't that crowded I've noticed. Sure, its huge, but it's not that dense. It's not shit like Paris.

Osaka was fun and Kyoto was pretty nice too.

Kristiansand is all the way south and Tromso is hundreds of kilometers north of the arctic circle, never been to any of them so I'll base my judgement on what I know.

Amsterdam is completely ruined by tourism but most of the ‘nice’ parts everyone wants to live in are still doable.
This is also why Haarlem and Utrecht are so popular, they are very close to Amsterdam and both have beautiful old city centres and neighborhoods.

Rotterdam is South Holland which is western Netherlands. However 10km away from Rotterdam there’s Brabant which is Southern Netherlands.

I think this applies to every central/eastern European country

Houses are very expensive and living costs in general are not much better. Safe to live in unless you like certain south areas at night. Reputation for sluts. The surrounding farmland regions are nice but the city is alright too, it's like an Auckland on a much much smaller scale.
