What's an "easy" way to learn a language. Not easy as in "become fluent in Chinese in just 6 minutes" or some clickbait shit but something I guess more relaxed? Every time I try to learn a language I start off fine but after a month or two of doing vocab in Anki I just completely burn out and lose all motivation.
I've tried learning Japanese twice and German once and every time I end up burning out after getting overwhelmed with vocab. I really want to learn Japanese because I really like the history (mainly feudal Japan and some Shinto stuff) and I want to visit some day, but I just can't get past the Kanji barrier. I can read Katakana and Hiragana just fine, and studying grammar wasn't too bad (way easier than German was for me, but I've probably forgotten it by now). But trying to learn Kanji (I was doing 10 a day on Anki) just burned me out and I was barely making any progress at all anyways.
Anyone have any tips for not burning out? It feels like no matter what I'm always just going to get to a point where I can't remember any of the words and I just won't be making any progress at all.

Not the answer you want, but just stick with it, your progress gains will be your motivation eventually. If you're not 150% sure about learning a language I'd advise dropping Japanese and just stick to German, though.

Like i said a lot of us anglos have a similar problem. A couple of things that help me were duolingos streak as daft as it is. So even doing just a bit every day is better than doing none. Remember it's a marathon so even if you just do 1 or 2 Kanji a day they'll add up and when you get your motivation back instead of having done no Kanji and having to spend time relearning what you did a month ago, you've added another 30-60.

Literature really is the last hurdle, there is just so much more variety and descriptive language. Also: my current issue is that most of my input has mostly be light conversation or investigative journalism.
So for the future I will try to watch more contemporary fiction to get more exposure to more authentic conversations between native speakers and I'm about to buy a kindle with a look-up dictionary to read pirated books(/lit/wiki for recs) and put the words I encountered with the help of the respective add-on into anki.

Russian isn't phonetic either. Like when 'a' can make an 'a' or 'o' sound. And the stress placed on the word is random. Bulgarian and Serbian are much more phonetic.
