I'm in my final year of university now and I haven't made many new friends. I prefer hanging out with established friends from school instead of making new ones to be honest. I'm pretty sure most others are the same which is why it can be hard for someone coming in with no friends to break into social circles. This is partly because Ireland and the Netherlands are small places so you don't have to go far for university meaning you'll probably know other people there like in my case. Whereas in America, you could end up in a different state altogether as the only person from your town in that university, and everyone else is in the same boat, so you end up sticking together out of necessity
