it took centuries for a lot of places to become majority muslim. Islam objectively spread more peacefully then Christianity. The only place where the people were forced to convert by the sword is the Arabian Gulf. Otherwise, groups like the egyptians, berbers, levantines, mesopotamians, and Persians took hundreds of years to become muslim.

Also muslims never did anything to the horn of Africa. Somalians and Sudanis converted to islam willingly while Ethiopians did not. Why do you think Ethiopia still exists as a Christian country among a bunch of Muslim ones. There is even a hadith where prophet Muhammad says "leave the Absynnians alone" which refers to the Ethiopians.
