How do you pronounce the Chinese "r" sound?

more like a "z"

I try learning Arabic and a bit of German.
Can someone give me movies and music with light Arabic (preferebly classical)? thanks in advance user

you can't

How exactly does Russian/German oral posture work? Clearly for both vowels and consonants even when pronouncing them right according to IPA it's completely different sounding

You should shadow, find vids in Russian/German like youtube news chanels and pause every few seconds and try to mimic what they say

Been shadowing for years, at least with German. It helps somewhat with the "melody" and "rhythm" but I'm still trying to figure those out too. Not sure if I'm crippling myself because I mostly watch German news for this which probably sounds nothing like how people speak

They do speak like the news, thankfully only old people still speak the dialect except in Bavaria. I had trouble pronouncing Russian too but now I can pronounce it much easier with shadowing everyday. Have you tried italki?

No idea what italki is, but if it's something where I embarrassment myself by speaking to natives I'm good. As for Russian I sort of get consonants are pronounced further back on the tongue and mouth, German is the one killing me, vowels especially

you will never become fluent if you dont practice speaking

Working hard on my German listening comprehension

youtu.be/ujzSPS4Uh4M

I do, just to myself

you need to actually practice and have conversations with native speakers, thats how i learned russian, ukrainians on italki only charge $2 an hour

The thing is I don't think Germans understand how to fix an American accent any better than they can fix their own while trying to speak English. Currently have other issues with this sort of service anyway. My Russian isn't at a level where I'm panicking about sounding decent so I'll worry about it later, though it is good to at least unlearn anything wrong I can for now. I do realize I'm rambling

Look up pronunciation videos

Duolingo is social justice convereged

accent doesn't matter much, we are used to hearing foreigners all the time. what level are you at?

I won this today.

How many crowns do you have and what is your Duolingo level

Neat!

191 crowns in Norwegian and 130 in Irish.

I just like to get as close as possible, it's for me

>classical
islamicity.org/series/omar-ibn-khattab-series-episode-1-english-subtitles/
Try this. The series was hosted on Youtube but I can't find it on there now, this is the best link I could find that contains the full series/subs. Classical Arabic in a classical setting, boring at times but it's a solid 30 hours of Classical Arabic and isn't just someone reading from a Quran. You really have to dig to find Classical Arabic content online that isn't religious, I'd really recommend learning Modern Standard first above all else if you want to break into the Arabic world.

how would i learn a dialect of arabic?

The easiest way would be to learn enough MSA (Modern Standard Arabic) to understand the learning resources for dialects. Most all resources for specific dialects are in MSA, and the resources that do exist for specific dialects which are mostly for Egyptian aren't enough on their own to reach fluency.

i want a moroccan gf but i heard moroccan darija is like a different language ;-;

>want a moroccan gf
Why?

I visited Morocco and like half the women were wearing ridiculous clothes (pyjama pants, hijab and a bag with some stupid logo like playboy).

wtf playboy logo lmao? did you fuck any? would i get killed for pursuing them?

I don’t think they knew what it was. And I didn’t and I can’t understand why anyone would want to do it.

Please help me understand French grammar.

What don’t you understand

french is easy

classical! A bit hard for me though, but everything is appreciated.
>MS
I’m learning CA in uni, so it's prioritized, but will definitely dig on modern arabic, clasically thanks again.

I don’t understand how the questions work. I don’t understand when to use “tu” and when to use “vous”. I don’t understand what verbs to use when I say a sentence, for ex: “vous sont un petit enfant” or “vous êtes un petite enfant”

Hier j'ai reçu les résultats de mon premier examen francais de ce semestre (59,7%)

Attached: 1499728238885.jpg (633x758, 44K)

I don’t speak French but studied it in school. So I can’t answer very specific questions but this should be okay:

Tu is you, vous is you for plural (y’all). Vous can be used as a formal way to address someone (you have to learn when French people use it).

You have to use the verb that matches the subject. Just like in English with the verb “to be”, it’s I AM, you ARE, he IS...
In French all verbs are like that. When it comes to vous, it should be êtes.

I recommend that you get a grammar book or something because these are very basic questions.

RIP

If you don't mind me asking why are you learning classical? Are you a linguist or historian, or a Muslim?

Attached: kmosaic01a.jpg (1280x720, 69K)

Fuck knows, really. I feel like even the damn chinks don't know how to pronounce their own sounds.

The fuck is this crowns shite? One crown per lesson? It was never a thing when i used the site

well, neither I guess. It’s just what my uni program is based on. I’ll have an opportunity to learn some local dialect, hebrew or even latin on older courses, but know I need classical. I guess I just want to know stuff

Attached: 9D5CFA3F-EBF8-4306-AA5F-F3B5CD9CECB0.jpg (1280x720, 97K)

Yes why

You can reach up to level 5 in every lesson. You get a crown for each level across all lessons.

I see. Feel like i've been a bit scammed because I've done way more than it credited me for but thats how the cookie crumbles i guess with this sort of stuff.

You can always just test out

I enjoyed them, keep it going.

:))) thank you

this kek, chinese from rural areas who get interviewed get subtitles put on them because otherwise city chinks wouldn't be able to understand them

I notice that they don't pronounce r. I will vocaroo it how they pronounce "thirteen" based on what I heard when they speak English if you want.

pls do

BIST DU DIE LESBE

No subtitles, but if you're interested in history this is a cool series

This is what I literally heard when a chinese spoke at my training back then. I couldn't even comprehend what all he said at that time, since he spoke with his thick accent.

what the fuck is that shit? can you please learn from something else that doesn't make me want to kill myself after seeing this? thanks

your voice makes me hard

Th-thanks.
I take it as a compliment, I guess?

>tfw no one wants to learn my language

DIAMOND HARD COCK

Hart.

There's a German guy who hates all 99.9% of German TV on /lang/. Is that you? In any case, what TV do you actually like?

should i learn chinese?

do you like Chinese culture
do you want to visit China and appreciate that culture
do you want to read/watch Chinese media
do you want to befriend Chinese people in particular
do you think you can stomach the difficulties of the language, from the moonrunes to the tones
are you interested in Chinese history
will learning Chinese help improve your career/future career
do you think you can handle being the one guy in the company who speaks Chinese and has to deal with all the screaming Chinamen?
if no then don’t learn Chinese

learn jap its easier and you get to read lewd drawn anime

>it's easier
doubt

I am starting and it's challenging but *very* rewarding.

Yes to all.

As an aside to whoever's lurking t he thread, has anyone had success with Rosetta Stone, particular with learning Mandarin? A lot of people talk shit but I have been having good success... after I finish level 5, I will pick up some more formal texts on grammar, but I think its a great intro so far at level 1.

Attached: china doesnt like blakc panther.jpg (1072x1247, 108K)

did you actually pay for it or pirate it? people shit on it because it is exorbitantly overpriced

Oh no I pirated it. Lol. That might explain why I like it so much...

> The commenter said he had to pinch himself more than 10 times to stay awake during the movie because “Black Panther is black, all the major characters are black, a lot of scenes are black, the car-chasing scene is black—the blackness has really made me drowsy.”

> Another reviewer who came into the theater late made a similar observation: “When I entered the theater, a bunch of black people was fighting in the night… I’ve never been in a theater so dark that I couldn’t find my seat.”

> Someone else said the experience was worse in 3D (link in Chinese): ”The film is filled with black actors and actresses. Also, because the film’s colors are a bit dark, it’s nearly a torture for the eyes to watch the film’s 3D version in the theater.”

oh Chinese people
those kind of comments would get you fired, divorced, tarred and feathered, and made a pariah in the US

How well does Rosetta Stone do in teaching you pronunciation and tones?

Why do you think I'm learning Chinese senpai. They are just too based. And I like their aesthetic. I may also try to get some sideways pussy at some point

It's okay. I sometimes question the algorithm that analyzes your speech, in terms of how much scrutiny it actually puts you under. The upside is that the program does a LOT of speaking, so if you are really committed you can make a point to notice the nuances in the speakers voice and try to emulate it.

Any other Italian learners here?

i keep asking this but fall asleep before I get my answer anywho, does anybody now where to find albanian moves with albanian subs? or even t v sshows

how hard is it to learn Icelandic?

59,7% ~ 60% = 60/100 = 11/20
which is not a bad grade at all in France

Don't know about straya but it's borderline failure here

>60/100
>=11/20

I take it you really enjoyed Black Panther?

HD = high distinction (80% - 99%)
D = distinction (70% - 79%)
C = credit (60% - 69%)
P = pass (50% - 59%)
NA = not applicable (anything below that)

Last semester in french my two tests were 63% each but I got an 82 for my dissertation and an 85 for my oral exam so I ended up with a distinction across all my subjects which is very good

I have two questions:

Phonetics could help me with learn how to speal any language more easly?

How i could get better in mandarin pronunciation?

Attached: 3c198ba32ecc7ad683864d7db5c55ca54bc7dedcad50d0194f146a13d20d2c3c.jpg (480x360, 33K)

>Armenia
Pls be my fren

What's a good french grammar book, lads?

>Phonetics could help me with learn how to speal any language more easly?
Not really. Phonetics is more about the sounds. Typically you'd just need to learn the spelling rules and conventions of the individual language since it very rarely is perfectly phonetic.

Bescherelle is the absolute reference, but I don't know if it's available in english. I can't find it online

Why learn mandarin? Russian is much more exciting.

yep. duolingo is great. i can recommend.

>duolingo is great

It really isn't

it is quite good for how little it costs. also pretty good at training your patience.

It's fine for drilling exercises/vocab but absolutely horrible at teaching grammar. It also appeals most to people who practice 5 minutes a day while taking a shit while ironically hurting them the most

It's in French.

I guess it would since no one even answered me. I might be better off with just learning Russian I guess

It's cat 4 for an English speaker (so, hard) along with Russian. I'd recommend Russian of the two anyway

It's quite ok for grammar. You can drill grammar too you know.

It appeals to gamers also. Just one more exercise / turn / level...

both look and sound appealing to me, so Russian would be just as good. thanks for the heads up!

Icelandic is probably quite easy if you know some scandinavian language before. Medium if you know some germanic language. Hard if you don't.
