Best Flags in the World Do you agree? Why or why not?
I created an aggregate based on the top 10 most popular Google results for best national flag. I ranked them as follows: 1st place = 10pts 2nd place = 8pts 3rd place = 7pts Etc.... There was only enough correlating data to make a top 5 list Here are the most well liked flags in the world: >5.) Japan 17 points >4.) Brazil 27 points >3.) Canada 31 points (a fucking leaf made top 10 lol) >2.) Albania 32 points >1) Draw between USA and UK both with 40 points
I think America scored so well because of its fame, design-wise it is neither very unique or well done. I don't really think Brazil should be top 5 either and was quite surprised to find that it was so popular. Usually words on a flag is considered poor form.
It was common to refer to Britain as England, even in the UK until the 1930s when a new wave of Scottish nationalism arose and they took offence. The Oxford History of England is the official history of Britain and Benjamin Disraeli signed the treaty of Berlin as PM of England by which he meant all of Britain.
UK and Albania yes. Japan would be better if they'd kept their WW2 flag but it's still pretty good. I'd drop the rest, including the US (way too busy for a flag), and add the old Soviet flag if that still counts. I feel I'm forgetting a really good one...

Sorry honey, no. Allow me to post the real best flags.
California's flag would be a lot better to me if it didn't say "California Republic" on it. The graphical part is nice, I just don't like text on flags.
Xavier Thomas
Brazil's flag is unironically horrible.
Ryan Rodriguez
Japan and Canada are boring. Jamaica is better than Brazil, text in a flag is a big no.
Nathaniel Bailey
I wouldn't say horrible. I think the shapes involved are okay, it's just not a very attractive color combination. It's also false advertising but you came here for flags, not memes.
I'm just not feeling the green and yellow, even though the design is better.
Charles Bailey
so you adopted a retard child version of it?
Jason Adams
Popular and best doesn't mean the same op, of course the flags of the most well known countries are going to be the most searched as well. I personally like South Africa, and memes aside, China and my own country flag are great too
it looks like a circus because it has too many stripes and too many stars our flag looks sharp, based and redpilled

the Rayed Sun has never been Japan's national flag. It was always the plain circle from the start of the Meiji restoration and throughout ww2. The sunray flag is their Navy ensign. It is still flown by JMSDF warships today. Pic related, flying beside the U.S. flag on exercise last year
Agreed. Imperial Japan on the other hand is top tier.
Adam Long
That's unironically really nice looking.
Josiah Perry
>It is still flown by JMSDF warships today. >Pic related, flying beside the U.S. flag on exercise last year Nice, didn´t know that
Justin Flores
I think the US assumes the Rising Sun (the sunray version, Hinomaru is the plain disc) was somehow parallel to the Swastika in that their fascist party adopted it for WW2 and had to drop it after. During ww2 it was definitely used more prominently due to the military government displaying it alongside the Hinomaru, but it was always just the Navy flag (army is similar but centered instead of offset). The JMSDF does haul down the Rising Sun when they visit China and other East Asian ports, because in those countries it is seen as swastika-tier offensive. They do fly it when visiting Pearl Harbor, though.

>he doesn't have the house of the habsburgs represented in his flag
>America >good flag America is a PRIME EXAMPLE of a terrible flag. Probably one of the worst national flags in existence, in fact. How the fuck did it end up here? Did they just choose that because they like/recognize America?
SA has one of the worst national flags in existence.
Carson Myers
your flag has another flag on it
Joshua Wilson
When I was aggregating the data Australia was on a couple of good flag lists but it was also on a couple of worst flags ever lists. It seems to be a love it or hate it flag. Personally I love it
Christopher Diaz
None of this matters anyway since this is the inevitable future
the UK and Moldova have objectively great flags. Canada, Brazil, and Japan are shit. USA's flag is just OK, but it's elevated to greatness unfairly due to its status and worldwide exposure; but it's not objectively great from an aesthetic point of view.
>Flag consists only of red, white and blue >Flag is just a background for an emblem >Flag does not have red in it >Flag contains a cross >Flag has gr**n in it >Flag has no black in it >Flag has one or more stars in it >Flag has islamic symbol in it >Flag has three vertical lines >Flag has only 2 colors >Flag has more than 4 colors >Flag has no yellow or white in it >Flag is a different shape than the standart rectangle
All these are instant turn-offs that disqualify a flag for being god-tier
