They accepted the cease fire, because stopping the Egyptian advance was the only reasonable goal of theirs. If they counter attacked they would have risked losing their planes and pilots. If they managed to reach Cairo that would have been a phyrric victory for them with their supply lines stretched out. Israel's biggest weakness is their lack of manpower. They can't afford losing man so they compensate with technology and superior fire power. The peace of Camp David was good for Israel in the long run.
