That takes superficial similarities at face value but doesn't take into account the role of each race in Tamriel. Yes Bretons are obviously French inspired but there's more to it than that. There's many ways to interpret things and many angles.

So actually, the French and the Germans are the "Imperials" of Europe, or you could say the Colovians (military/political oriented Imperials) and the Nibenesse (the trading heart part of Cyrodiil/Europe around the Niben/Rhine river) with Bruxelles being the Imperial City. Basically core of Charlemagne's Empire (France+Germany+Benelux) is the Cyrodiil of Europe.

Prior to Bethesda fucking up the lore in Skyshit and Elder Shit Online, the Nords were supposed to represent all the ancient Germanic peoples of Europe, not just the vikangz. The Celts are also obviously Forsworn/Breton, not Altmer. The Dunmer are Indians, not Slavs. Slavs should be Orsimer. The Japanese should be Akaviri.

Tes races aren't really "supposed" to represent anything real, just be loosely inspired by some real elements with added fantasy elements. It's not supposed to be a historical simulator like KCD and this sort of nonsense isn't "lore"

And some of the armors and weapons do in fact look more Anglo-Saxon/Frankish, of course "loosely". Nords aren't even "viking" since sailing isn't even that important in Skyrim. They actually do resemble continental Germanics more than fantasy vikings and that's a good thing.
