I think it is lower for people who live outside of Philly but true. Also I never worked in Philly but I think you can deduct philly income tax from new jersey income tax or some bullshit like this. No idea if Delaware is similar or what I said is even true to begin with.
Also property taxes for a 250k house is 8k a year in the area where I am from in NJ

My friends just live near a train station and take the train everyday. I hate commutes too so I just bite the bullet and live in center city. It's expensive for a small place, but I walk to work/go out which saves a ton of money. Plus my apartment has a rooftop pool so that's fun.
I like the city though so I was thinking of buying a place in Fairmount next summer.

Hello fellow New Jerseyan. Doesn't our state suck? Do you know our state regularly tops the list of highest state expats? People are fleeing NJ. New jersey is a death trap. You pay NYC taxes for not living in NYC. Basically. NJ has the nations highest property taxes, they are fucking sky high, you pay on average like $1,600 a month for a studio apartment anywhere in this god forsaken state.
NJ sucks. Truly. I am taking my crypto gains elsewhere. I am fleeing south, probably Florida, maybe Atlanta, Nashville or Texas. Philly is a good option too cause the rent there is actually reasonable.
