Are wristwatches prevalent among the population?

England
Yes very much so.

yes very prevalent. especially the Rolex Submariner

My brother's Singaporean friend has one of those

it's one of the cheapest luxury watches out there. a normal dude like me could buy 1 just by saving up in 6 months.

They're quite hard to get hold of here, there's a big waiting list

SOmewhat

Yes
Not really

Australia
No, because people have smartphones. But also yes, because Abble Gombuders have brainwashed people into believing they need a watch again so now every asshole has a """""smart"""""" watch and if you ask them why, they'll tell you they like knowing how many steps they take throughout the day

i would have thought for a country like the UK these watches would be readily available everywhere like here in SG. you could probably find a shop that sells Rolex watches every 5-7km here

Denmark

Yes most normies wear watches
I myself wear a certina

Isn't Singapore a hub for fake watches though?

no, not any more

Strange, I see watches on almost everyone when I'm in g*rmany

only cheap shit.

If I was buying an expensive watch, I'd buy a NOMOS

Attached: file.png (600x600, 320K)

Cheap watches are still watches so you lied to us

most of those watches come from China and are not sold in any shops. these fakes are sold online.
as long as you buy from a reputable shop it will be a real one.

>he wears the arm jew
>he doesn't set up a sundial on the go whenever he wants to know the time

varg would be ashamed

The sun Jew is great

Yes, most people tend to wear watches, either normal analog mechanical/quartz watches or pulse/smart watches.

Attached: Tudor-Black-Bay-Chrono_steelbracelet.jpg (1200x630, 97K)

WRONG. I went to a reputable dealer in Singapore and asked for a Rolex, and he said he only has Lolexes

HAHAHAH

Great choice I think. I'd like a nomos too.

leaf
Only boomers still do

I tried wearing one for awhile but it became a nuisance to take off and put back on whenever I washed my hands, and it doesnt anything a smart phone doesn't do.

wtf are you serious? what's the shop name and where is it at?

I fucked up the joke. I should've replaced the Ls with Rs because Chinese have trouble with Ls.

He's making with the funny with the confusion of native Mandarin speakers with Jow Forums and /l/

Does it not have any water resistance? You should have one with WR, I believe most watches today will have WR at least to 3atm, which is enough for splashes and such when you watch your hands.

When you wash your hands*

ah. come to think of it, lolex would probably be how my grandma pronounces it

I used to have to interest in watches and saw spending over £40 on one a waste of time but the past year or so I've changed my mind completely and think they're rather nice. I think spending over 150 is pointless though

That's like saying spending over £1000 on a car is pointless. Sure, you can argue that even that is true, because why would you really need a car above 1k? But the truth is you'd want to at least have a car that will put you back at least £10k so that you won't drive around in a total wreck. Similarly with watches, you'd at least want to spend 200-400 on a watch because those that are more affordable than that will ultimately be of such a low quality that it's not really enjoyable to own them. What are your thoughts on that?

Attached: SARB033.jpg (1200x731, 128K)

Well sure I mean every normal man is supposed to wear one though most are worth between €50 and €200.

Buying a mechanical watch would be like instead of buying a 1k VW Polo getting yourself a Ford model T for 50k.

Yes.

Yes.
But you buy a watch with a mechanical movement for the autism and the charm of how the mechanics work. And surely that is each to his own to decide what they want. But my aforementioned statement is not only for mechanical watches. If you buy one with quartz movement, under 200 then it will feel very cheap. I like to say that 400 is the point at which a watch will start to feel like quality when you hold it in your hand or wear it on your wrist, and when you study the external finish of the case, the dial, and also the bracelet/quality of the leather strap.

Gib JLC

No, we wear Rollex, because we are rich.

I have a $150 Olympic and it does the job fine. If I wanted to splurge on a watch, I'd get a Seiko Astron.

I see your point and I agree with you. As a matter of fact all my watches are digital Seiko's because of their sturdy full metal casings which you just feel when compared to hard plastic Casio.

The only thing about watches that bothers me is that so many people seem to believe mechanical watches are better than Quartz ones which simply isn't true in any regard.

Sadly they keep dying

>nearly 2019
>still using metal

>Seiko Astron.
Those are very big tho. I'd like them to be smaller in size personally. But the innovative idea of the Astro-line is very cool.

Yeah, mechanical watches are much less accurate than quartz. Anyone with just a tiny bit of interest in watches will know this fact, I think. Mechanical is only "better" because it's more special and charming. The handcraft and the awesomeness of a mechanical movement makes it, in some sort of autistic way, a superior choice I think. But not for accuracy obviously.

What happens when termites starts digging into it?

Dutch mechanical watch owners are smug assholes that absolutely do not reason like you.
If you view your watch like a piece of mechanical art like you do, that's completely fine. I think it's beautiful indeed how mechanical watches work.

>Cou're Yunt
>Are wristwatches prevalent among the population?

No, they're seen as outdated and useless.

Mechanical watches are more expensive and exclusive, so many people are steered that way because of the status. And naturally many of these will act smug about how great their watch is and how much it cost. How good a watch is for these people will be how much it cost, I guess?

Any oyster perpetual man in?

Maybe (you) are in?

Attached: Oyster Perpetual 39.jpg (900x593, 122K)

I am in

It's a solid watch. Do you own anything else than the OP?

No :(

Attached: d2e.png (200x160, 21K)

A lot of older people still wear them because they're used to it from pre-cellphone times. Big flashy expensive watches are status symbols among shitskins and wiggers larping as gangsters. Young people decreasingly give a shit.

Blue

Shave that arm hair m8

Great taste
Junghans is pretty nice as well

Very nice, looks grey to me though.

Max Bill is very aesthetic.

What watch do you have

rate mine

I think I’m getting a Mega for Christmas

I have a speedy pro and a few more affordable ones, like the seiko sarb033, junghans max bill, and others.

Good choice if you ask me. It will be a mega nice christmas.

Attached: Speedmaster professional moonwatch.jpg (1600x900, 156K)

Seiko is never a bad choice.

Attached: SARX055_.jpg (1024x768, 160K)

>Good choice if you ask me. It will be a mega nice christmas.
So many good choices though. They all look excellent

What do you think of pic related?

I like it. It works quite well as a dresswatch.

That's a nice piece of kit

I think so. At some point I want to add a nomos.

One of my grails

Attached: 1532550490531.jpg (1600x900, 136K)

Yes it's very nice. I have other watches I'd like to buy for that price though. You seem like one with an interest in watches.

>You seem like one with an interest in watches
Thank you. It's just a hobby I guess, watches are basically the only jewelry a man can wear and my grandad is a watches enthusiast so I inherited his passion for them

You should join the discord You'd feel right at home.

I will! Although I have to refrain myself or I'll empty my bank account

Attached: maisonceladon-imperialmovement1_720x.jpg (720x909, 90K)

No, most of my countrymen are too poor to afford one unless it's some shit.
And to be honest in present day watches are only a status thing.

Kek, I know what you mean. The itch of getting a new watch. I have been downsizing my collection for a while now, and I think it is at a reasonable size now of max 8 pieces.

Attached: JLC Master Eight Days Perpetual Stainless Stee-1618420.jpg (2304x2304, 3.02M)

I think it's more a fashion thing than a status thing, because most buy watches that are quite afforable, and there is no status about that.

Attached: Seiko-SKX013-on-wrist.jpg (1920x1080, 258K)

Luckily all the luxury watches I like are quite entry-level and minimal

Attached: 5296G_010_1.jpg (2200x1375, 164K)

>1900€
dude just buy a DW or MVMT watch

Attached: haute horlogerie.jpg (1600x2133, 386K)

>DW
Get one from Aliexpress or some shit, it will cost you 25€ and it will be literally of the same quality as an original one

Yes, the most expensive watch I would think of as my "next grail" should I ever spend that money, would be a reverso, and they're not that ridiculous in price all considered.

Attached: jaeger-lecoultre-reverso-classic-medium-automatic-men_s-watch-q2538420_2.jpg (900x900, 119K)

It's a nice watch but I'll never be able to like square watches I'm afraid
This is the most angular I'll go

Attached: f1b06a5f68f0880841c9da4c97daad8c.png (400x542, 176K)

No, people use their phone now
I have pic related

Attached: ZqMsULx.jpg (2592x1728, 606K)

They are quite expensive, but very nice. I would rather look toward JLC as my top choice of brand. I honestly think that my end station, no matter how much money, would be some sort of high horology JLC. I love them.

Attached: Duomètre Sphérotourbillon.jpg (1497x1600, 247K)

France
Not particularly
I'm interested in them because I used to be a clockmaker by trade.

Attached: TAG-Heuer-Mikrotimer-Flying-1000-Concept-Chronograph-1.jpg (1024x931, 140K)

Did they make these without that hideous green?

Those tourbilons are orgasmic but I fell for the minimal meme

Attached: bigimage.scale.2000.2000.1534840874682.jpg (2000x2000, 639K)

Yes there is a delicious Pink gold version.
The Mikrotimer is actually much better in real life. The green doesn't pop out as much. It's also very fun to see the needle spin really fast

Attached: mikrotourbillon.jpg (208x243, 10K)

Yeah. I like minimalism/bauhaus too, hence my next watch might be nomos. And I do have a max bill after all.

Nice.
How come you're not a watchmaker anymore?

Based

Attached: PROW1611-edit-X3.jpg (1600x1067, 1.42M)

I'm a quartz watch lover.

Attached: 61j0fv3yeOL._AC_UY700_.jpg (387x700, 41K)

Work doesn't really pay well for a lot of watchmakers.
Brands require that you own really expensives material, machines and formation if you don't want to void people's warranties, so Jewelleries just send theirs to big centralized maintenance centers (where you're not paid a lot as an employee).
So unless you want to change batteries for Pulsars or Miyota's movements, you could try to work on clocks (which is awesome) but fewer and fewer people wants theirs fixed or cleaned up.
It wasn't worth the effort so I picked up something else and I'm happy with it.
Still got some nice memories.

Attached: 2014-06-23 13.42.36.jpg (3264x2448, 1.91M)

Yep they are used by the vast majority I'd reckon
For men its the most natural accessory

But a poor person might not own a watch because it's not something that is prioritized unless you can spare 2-3k on something that isn't really needed

I own a few, mostly watches I've inherited from my grandfather/given by my dad.
Feel naked without one.

What's the point. There are smartphones.

No, because North Americans are man children who would rather rely on their normiephones, which in this regard are literally just a shittier version of a fucking pocket watch.

Easier to always have a watch on your wrist. No need for charging, you don't have to pick it up from your pocket etc.

If you only want to know the time you can simply gaze down on your wrist in 0.5 seconds, and also its an acessory for someone who actually care about how they look when they walk outside the door

Yes very prevalent, daniel wellington or seikos, citizen, police, skagen and so on for all those commoners, and tag heuer for those who want to pay a bit more, I see them everywhere

>tfw C*nada will never have a watch culture similar to that of based Scandis
just end my life already

Why don't canadians wear watches? Maybe youre too young still. More people tend to wear them when they reach the age of 20 because they start to dress more adult-like (only kids don't wear watches)
