Your system works because you are dry small ethnically homogeneous countries with very long histories to tie your societies together. We’re not even 250 years old and we’re only like 65% white at this point. We’re also so fucking big that people in Maine and people in Arizona don’t give a fuck about eachother. For all of the flag waving there is actually extremely little unity between different regions here.
If we were a lot smaller and still had the demographics we had in 1950 I would agree with you.
