What's stopping the EU from being as influential and powerful as America?
Honestly it's not even close despite the similar population and level of development

Socialism (objective answer)
Socialism, unironically. The EU is an absolutely suffocating environment for startups and small businesses.
proper Federalization first off
>influential and powerful
it is just as influential and powerful
>What's stopping the EU from being as influential and powerful as America?
Because it's a union of 28 difference countries that vary in size, population, economic power, mentality to some degree, historical insecurities towards each-other, etc.
The United States is one country that has been a single country for several centuries now.
Even if you compare Scandinavians, the highest caste population of Europe, U.S. states still ranks higher in terms of GDP etc.
America is far worse in this regard. They actively protect the monopolies who routinely destroy competition by manipulating the courts and government legislation in their favour.
Who mentioned anything about GDP? The point is the EU is not a unified big country, so it can't really project that much influence outside and be a serious world player. It's way too complicated to balance 28 countries and there's no one government to manage things effectively.
you have no idea what you're talking about. please stop
If you have absolutely nothing of substance to add, at least do everyone a favour and punctuate your fucking sentences.
I mean per capita.
No because this thread will 404 in about a couple hours so I don't care.
That is because the whole country is ruled by oligarchs
This
Yet another example of why Americans are a blight on this website.
For those who aren't complete fucking cretins and are actually interested in this topic, here is some reading:
pastebin.com
The long and short of it is that there is a trend for more small businesses in America to fail than succeed, which is happening while big businesses are monopolising more and more of the marketplace. Companies like Amazon and Walmart strangle competition and not in a "free market" way. Pastebin for obnoxious fucking spam filter. Fuck you RapeApe.
>americans a blight on a website for americans
huh? Anyway,
>small businesses in America to fail than succeed
Depends. Many mom and pop stores do fine it's the ones placed right next to a superplex that get fucked. Huge corporations rather go after each other see the sprint & tmobile merger. (i don't know if it went through)
>big businesses are monopolising more and more of the marketplace.
The atlantic says americans rather go to a superstore. which is true. You can bulk buy for cheap. Nothing wrong with that. The second link is about big ass corps buying each other out and mostly goldman sachs getting scared. The third link is about why small businesses fail. This article seems to be more of the part of business management than being run out by big competitors. The 4th link is about amazon btfo other big companies like bestbuy, departments stores like jc penny and so on. (hardly small business). The last one is about unemployment but saying small business dying out. There is a 100k discrepancy there. But that article is weary of unemployment.
>Companies like Amazon and Walmart strangle competition and not in a "free market" way.
Sure but like I said they eat each other out. You can get grants and we even have a administration for small businesses. There is more factors in why those fail from: management, decline in sales, location, etc. But to reroute this back towards the canadian post, Idk euro economic enviroment towards small business so I can't give a full detail. All you said is that it's worse in the US and something about manipulating courts and whatnot which is in none of the articles you posted.
I know you have a american hate boner, but calm down.
Jesus fucking christ you are a piece of shit. The statistics and state of your fucking economy fly in the face of everything you have stated.
>I know you have a american hate boner, but calm down.
Once again, showing why you fuckwits need to be rangebanned. All the hate you get is justified and rational.
Why are you so fucking angry?
>The statistics and state of your fucking economy fly in the face of everything you have stated.
From most the the links they were talking about big business. None of them mention mom and pop small business except maybe the last link which was unemployment.
>Once again, showing why you fuckwits need to be rangebanned. All the hate you get is justified and rational.
See, what the point in arguing with you if you're so far up your own ass about your american hate boner. You take anything thrown at you and wish it away because "it's american". Grow up faggot
scratch that the forbes article as well. But the others were about monoploy issues among conglomerates of corporations which had nothing to do with the canadians post.
There's got to be more to it than national borders. There seems to be an entirely different mentality that's holding them back
Money, no proxy wars, wants to make peace, no mickey mouse, mcdonalds nor marvel
>There seems to be an entirely different mentality that's holding them back
there isn't any EU "patriotism". different countries have different interests and agendas.
the only way we can become something akin to the US is if there's a party or a strong conservative politician people can rally behind. something like a pan-European conservative Trump. which just doesn't exist.
not exactly
the monopolies dislike competition
the big companies like startups because they grow fast, while they themselves don't
so startups do free R&D for them, bring in new ideas, get bought out, become part of the big corporation and thus will never become a competition
EU exists to keep NATO existing, which exists to keep US troops in Europe for another 70yrs and beyond.
When the US goes, the EU goes.
US is an actual country with one executive cabinet, one currency and one foreign policy. The EU is nothing of those things, fortunately.
EU doesn't have a strong central government lead by a reality TV star, strong military with a budget of 600 billion and 4000+ nukes in store.
Also we have the Greeks.
