No, we became less and less religious because of different reasons. Mainly the church wasn't a part of the 1st republic rhetoric and a lot of people dropped out of it because they saw it as accessory to Habsburg reign. But those people didn't really find new churches so arelegiosity rose along with nationalism. Then Nazis came and the church didn't really do anything about them as a whole and then commies came and again, some religious figures were against it but as a whole, the church did nothing. So those 40 years of communism basically proved that religion is useless and most people are either one of those believers in "something" or just flat out atheists.

Old people usually just use churches as a social club and it's not really a spiritual thing for them, because by the time you're a pensioner, you've probably already decided who you are as a person. There are plenty of people that are certainly still religious here. Some of my friends still go to church once a week, but otherwise you wouldnt think they are religious. EE is actually very religious on average, far more than Western Europe, Australia, or Japan. The Churches (both Orthodox and Catholic) are huge pieces of shit and historically have been, but most people are still very into it. Czechia and Estonia are the sole exceptions, but we have little in common with the rest of that group in other ways as well.
