my dad was a cop when 9/11 happened. He hid from his coworkers in a bookstore so they wouldn't send him to the trade center. When he showed up later that day they didn't even ask where he was.

I'm glad he didn't because he could have died.

I work in the area and have been there late. Our offices are basically open 24/7 but it's only a few people working, some cleaners and security. The whole area also dies down not long after work hours.

A lot of businesses leave lights on, and the cleaning staff would be there at night, it's not really people working.
