So much progress since your last major conflict (the Korean War in the 50s), so much potential and achievement innovating science and technology. It's probably cheaper to purchase a car or make a videogame in S. Korea than anywhere else in the world.
Why do you commit so much suicide? The world, in general, loves you
The problem in Korea is that the suicide rate of the elderly over the age of 80 is high. In Korea, they got sick because they were old The government does not allow them to die. They are constantly treated to live in pain. Euthanasia is illegal in Korea. Doctors try to live as long as possible for the elderly who are old and broken. The average human being has to die slowly at the age of 80 to 90. But Korea is not. Of course, the average life span of Koreans is long, Many people think that miserable reality is better than dying. So their children cannot see their parents die. So they continue to bring in good medicine doctors and make them live longer by treating them for up to 20 years.
However, it is extremely expensive and both children and patients are exhausted. The pain is more unbearable than the pain of the parents looking at it. So, old people usually kill themselves for their children.
Well, if you think about it, it's going to be easy for you to accept death. Still, Korea does not accept death.
There's talk about dignity death. Most people still prefer life-saving therapy.
Therefore, the suicide rate of the elderly is too high. However, the OECD average is below the OECD average in other groups.
Many people just look at the statistics and talk about them. They talk with little knowledge and don't know what's wrong.
The suicide rate for young Koreans was not high except in 1997 when the financial crisis hit.
What if you not pay? In japan if elderly just want to die their kids just tell doctor to cut life support and stop treatment. Its a gray zone tho
Juan Hughes
If you refuse to pay, The government pays the money and asks for the child. He needs to be treated until he dies. That's why they make difficult decisions. This is a serious social problem. Many Koreans still oppose euthanasia.

In fact, the suicide rate is not much different from other countries except for the elderly. The problem is that older people suffer too much in life treatment
Oh shit it's actually the elderly huh? Everybody is always talking about how school is so tough in SK so i just kinda figured that that'd be the reason.
I don't mean any disrespect to the elderly, but this info about Korea does lights my day up a little. The suicide or death in any way of a productive youth with lots of potential and good things to offer to society is an outright tragedy - elders, on the other hand, if they are a burden or suffer as much as you have stated they do, that's another story. No matter how much technology a nation has, we are only human in the end...
Sorry to hear that... I hope you doing good yourself

Right. A human being dies. The problem with Korea is that we can't accept it.
Oliver Brooks
